I am assuming it is diesel powered, correct?
Diesels are very simple- They require fuel, air and compression to run and stay running.
Make sure your air cleaner is good (usually you will get more smoke if dirty).
Check to make sure you have a good flow of fuel to the injector pump. (I have found rags and other debris in fuel tanks (they run great with no load).
Other than that, you will need a tech.

There are several saftey circuits on the Westerbeke that will not let you run it. Low oil pressure, low water, and some have a CO2 sensor that if it is unplugged will not run.
A friend on mine could not keep his running and had to hold his hand over the air intake on the carborator. As soon as he took it off it would die. The carborator was rebuilt, sensors checked, plugs changed, fuel filter changed, air filter changed, and many hours of us standing around it to add our opinions on the issue.
In the end it tured out to be the fuel pump. He did get this advise from a local mechanic and then Irwin scheduled the repair.
