So. We have been living up here for the past 7 years and never had Breakfast at the VK. So I warmed up the little Cobra today, and the wife and I took a ride for some morning food. The place was pretty full but we managed to get a booth on the side. Food came out in 10 minutes. It was very good. Met SAMIAM and was able to prove to him, that we do indeed drive the Cobra there every once in a while....By the time we left the place had a line at the door, and the parking lot was getting full. Once again the staff there was top notch. Those folks in the kitchen kick a$$.
Nice Job VK!

Where is the VK located?
I would love to find a nice place for breakfast.

Really wish they took plastic though, not just Credit I like using debit all the time. In todays world Your almost thrown for a loop by an establishment that doesn't. But yeah, I still stop in now and then.

There's an ATM right in the lobby...problem solved! They take checks too...

One can never go wrong at the VK. I prefer the lunch and dinner meals, though. In fact one may well find me there tomorrow for the turkey dinner. As good or better than Hart's, at less money.
I wish Mr. Fatlazyless would join me. But he has all that meat and potatoes to eat he purchased at Hannaford's in Plymouth (see thread on Woodshed).
I have a loyalty to the Center Harbor Diner for the mass of sauteed onions on my homefries, which I take too seriously. It used to be the way the VK did it way back in their old location.
I like grease, dammit!
Also, there's a rumor going around that the people who work at the Village Kitchen are honest. Remember that Hamlet says only one man in ten thousand is honest. Recently, a man left a substantial wad of cash in an envelope. It was found, put in the safe, and subsequently returned to the customer several days later. You're a class act, Mr. Jones!
This would almost never happen in DC, New York, or Michigan--places where I have lived.
I was reminded of this recently at my brother's wedding in Georgetown. There was a cop permanently stationed in front of the ATM on Dupont Circle.
I love living in a place where the people are honest!

They cooked your husband's chicken? Do they let you keep chickens in the yard down in Green's Basin? Did he have to pluck it, or did they do it for him? Sorry, in just one of those moods tonight.

I think on Wednesday's, you can bring your own animal, and Bob will cook it.
If it gets loose, it's your problem...you must chase it.
It's a different concept, but VK is cutting egde, to be sure.

Love the last line... "no small children please" Maybe this link should be cross posted to the thread that is concerned with children in restaurants!:laugh:

Thanks for the kind words, State, but it's my crew that has to get the credit. The money, $465, found by Kim and turned in to us. Here's a girl with a big family, working two jobs....and she turns in the cash without a second thought. She's not the only one. Several of the crew has turned in various amounts of cash over the years. Some found on the seats of the booths, sometimes on the floor, even in the parking lot. Sammie and I are so proud of our girls.

You have a great crew, we are there once or twice a week. The reality is that in any business, large or small, the standards and practices are set at the top and you, also, deserve the credit.

I love riding the sled there for breakfast before I start ice fishing for the day. It's one of those things I look forward to most during my time up for the derby.
We drove by the VK late this afternoon and the "special" on the outside
billboard was "Thanksgiving Sliders".
That piqued our interest (but not enough to stop).
What the heck is a Thanksgiving Slider .... sliced turkey, stuffing, mashed potato and cranberry sauce on a small roll???
If so, I'll order 'em for breakfast some day soon.
