Since we had our new "Raise a dock" installed last summer (which we love, by the way!), we no longer have the safe launching area/platform (which had been on our old dock) for getting into our kayaks. Is anyone aware of a portable/floating kayak dock on the market? Currently, we are entering our kayaks through a rocky area which is dangerous; do-able, but not ideal. Any thoughts or suggestions? I will also ask our handyman, who may have some ideas, but wanted to check on the Forum, as well. So many thanks, everyone!

You could tie some bungy cords to the end posts, stretch the cords back towards the shore end, put the kayak in the slingshot area, get in, release the cords and enjoy the ride.:rolleye1:

Seriously, any way to attach a step down area to the "raise a dock" to make it easier to get in? How much higher is the new dock over the old one?

Yes, indeed...those bungy cords could catapult me right into the kayak!! The new dock is quite a bit higher than the old one, and the new dock is so pristine and aesthetically pleasing I am hesitant to detract from it by adding steps. I have googled kayak docks and also called Tom from Wild Meadow this afternoon, and he is researching them. Perhaps I should get into the kayak docks business....hmmmmmmmm. Appreciate your suggestion and definitely giving it some consideration .....as safety is my #1 concern (aesthetics aside).

I also have a beautiful Raise a dock and have the same issue. I did a little research and found this

What do you think. No idea on what this would cost.

I like the bungy idea so much I thought a less scary entry would be like a log flume ride. You would be all positioned in the kayak and slide down that wood slide!I guess that doesn't help with getting out though.
