I love the shine of 10 coats of varnish on the brightwork of my boat. I like it so much I just finished sanding off all the old varnish and applying 10 new coats. That was the hardest job I have done to the boat. Does anybody know of a product that will protect the varnish from the elements, eg., sun, sand, etc.??? I have read that you have to tend to the varnish every few months or all that hard work will flake off in a couple of years.

To protect from sun, a coat of varnish is recommended to cover even a coat of clear-epoxy! :eek2:

A friend of mine, Scott Layton, who works at Lyman-Morse Boat Co. told me they are trying a product called varnish armor on their new boats. He said he saw it on youtube.com. Has anybody tried this stuff? Does it work? Is it any good?
