Assuming you posted right after hearing it, yes, I heard it around then. I was at the top of Long Island, and it sounded like an approaching jet off to the west, not really low for a jet, but conceivably low for something like a helicopter.

So weird here I am reading your post and a unusual low rumble starts to sound....walked outside and heard the Heli in Fish Cove. It seemed low and something that usually isn't heard often, now I'm curious....anyone else

It's like tracking Santa Clause....

One of Bin Laden's underdogs was hiding out on Eagle Island but they successfully captured him last night. The helicopters were part of the raid. It was supposed to happen on Wednesday, but there was a bunch of debate about the safety of parachuting onto the island.

I hope they release the picture of the people they captured.

Maybe Sarcozi is coming back?
Could they have been taking pictures? Years ago people used to do that, fly over the houses, takes pics and then go house to house trying to get people to buy them.

Boy you sure did reel in a few forum members on that one….hook, line, and sinker!
To tie in Bin Laden’s raid and demise, the helicopters, and the debate about the safety of parachuting (which has a thread of its own in this forum), was nothing but pure genius thinking.
I still can’t stop laughing!!!

Actually I think it was a State Agency....mebe DEM.... filming/mapping the shoreline property's looking for illegal dock building and whatnot after ice out. :D :D
J u s t............. kidding. They would never do that just to "raize revenue" from The Wealthiest property owners.....would they..? :look: NB
I noticed BearCam2 (HiDEF) is up and running today, and Old Glory is flying proudly...somehow the dock looks different than it did yesterday. ;)

Note the time of night I posted it was very dark outside at the time. Great way to turn a post in all different directions people. I guess nobady knew what was going on, thought I'd try as the copter was sooo low and well in darkness.

Generally, helicopters do not fly at night (SAR excepted). Helicopters that DO fly at night use Night Vision Technology..Mapping your docks and shoreline with GPS precision. :D NB
