I plan to continue my watercolor painting when we are settled in after the BIG move and was wondering if there are any classes/instructors in the area?
I am not a beginner, but I'm not a professional either. (yet) My main interest is landscapes.

Thanks in advance.

Frates Creative Arts Center (www.fratescreates.com) in Laconia is great. Larry actually has a Bob Ross style painting program on local Lakes Region Public Acces Channel 25 too. I found myself captvated watching it one day! He's great, highly recommended.

I LOVED watching Bob Ross and would probably be as mesmerized watching Larry. I checked out the link and it looks like a fine creative arts space. What I'm looking for is an intermediate to advanced water color class on landscapes. Not sure the center does that.

If I were a serious painter, I'd at least contact Fleur Palau. I'm not sure if she teaches, but she can at least point you in the right direction.
Check out her web page:

Artistic Roots (http://www.artisticroots.com/) in Plymouth, which is technically part of the Lakes Region.

I do not know if she gives lessons, but you should speak with Christine at Gallery 51 on Main Street in Meredith.

I don't teach Cate but I paint in watercolors, oils, acrylics and other media. Big in photography. If you ever want company plein air of in a studio of which I am in the process of moving let me know. Sometimes company and other opinions is just as good as a class.

I agree that it can be very inspiring and educational to work with other artists on other levels. Sometimes it's enough to just help you SEE things in a different way. I can't wait to get up there and start my new life. Lucky Tracy, (my partner) is moving up next weekend...

...I will be driving up for the weekend and then returning to NJ to wait for an offer on our house...(tapping foot impatiently)

Try http://www.vynnart.com They are a new place in Meredith. A friend of mine teaches there. I am not sure exactly what classes they offer, but it's worth a shot!

Frates Creative Arts does offer classes, yes. I believe that he does watercolor and acrylic, possibly oils. His wife also has an adjacent dance studio, which is why it's billed more as an 'arts center'.

Christine Hodecker-George is teaching a class there on April 16th. I would LOVE to take a class with her. Her watercolors are beautiful. I'll keep an eye out for future workshops.

Thanks everybody for the great replies. It looks like I'll be able to find fellow artists and workshops in the area. YAHOO!!

Chi-lin, an Asian antique and art store in Meredith offered some fabulous painting workshops this past fall, which unfortunately I was unable to attend. Perhaps they're offering more this spring- they don't seem to keep their website updated. Chi-lin is definitely worth a visit, regardless.

Hi Cate,

Good luck with that house offer! There is a gallery in Wolfeboro on Main St. owned by an artist, Snady Martin. Her website is www.sandymartinart.com. She is a lovely person. A friend of mine took lessons from her and loved her.

Thanks so much for this Barbara. No offers on our NJ house yet. Lots of people looking , but nobody pulling the trigger. It's like that all over our town. No offers... even on a some "fire sale" houses. (Grrr.)
