I think that is the name...Any way we went in for dinner last Wednesday and both my wife and I stood there for a good 10 minutes waiting for someone to seat us. Looking....waiting....looking....waiting.....Nope. No one came over. The bartender stood and looked at us several times. I guess she didn't think it was her job. The waitress stood and waited for her bar order, then served two tables, never once acknowledging us. My wife wanted to go up and ask the bartender but I said nope and off we went. went to Garwood's. Had a great meal and great service. This was a Wednesday night, so it wasn't a busy Friday or Saturday.
Too bad I was looking to try it out as we love the Pine Cone and always get great service there. :(

Lakesrider - I am sorry to hear you had a long wait, there really is no excuse for that. I have been there many times and have experienced a bit of a wait myself several times, but, once I was seated, the service was great and the food was great. However, as you found out (sadly), poor service trumps good food. My guess is that Dave and Sheila will be speaking to their staff about not having that happen again. I hope you try them again, soon.

The food isn't that good, not horrible but more a frozen-for-restaurant style. I had the nachos and a fish sandwich. Neither would I order again. I will go and try a hamburger and another dish though. Sometime.

If you like burgers, I would recommend either "The Restaurant" on Main street, or the Wolfe's Tavern at the Wolfeboro Inn. This isn't a slam to the Bayside, I have tried their food and found the burgers are better elsewhere.

The Restaurant serves home-made hand cut fries with their burgers.

We used to go there when it was Back Bay Boathouse, went maybe once or twice when it was Love's Quay.

Ate there Sat night (8/6), and really enjoyed it.
Fried whole-belly clams were OUTSTANDING.
Service was prompt and friendly, food was very good, prices were OK - not a deal, but not outrageous.

I don't know what they do to them, but they were amazing.

We got them as an appetizer, and all said we'd probably get them as dinner next time.

Pizza in this country has pretty much been the same for the past 50 years. IMHO it is American Pizza.

In 1961, while I was in the US Navy we sailed into Naples, Italy...spent 5 months there. We also went to Athens Greece. Pizza in Greece was much like American Pizza.

The Pizza in Naples was ...different. It was usually square. It had a "Dollop" of plain tomato sauce in the middle.... maybe a large tablespoon...on top of a LOT of OIL. There may have been some cheese. There was NO option for addons like peperonni, etc. Don't ask..it would be an insult..

The procedure for eating was to cut a large "X" in the middle of the crust..then lift the crust to drain the oil....then slice and eat...........with a knife and fork. ONLY Americans eat pizza with their fingers.

Just remembering the old days........:D NB

BTW: Have you ever noticed how a lot of the good Pizza Places in the US are.. Greek.....??? :)

I think I ate at the same restaurant...though it was in 1966 and 1967 :)

I went down to the Bayside Grille and Tavern to watch the Pats play and had THE BEST lobster roll I've had this season. It was huge and had tons of meat and just the right amount if mayo. (very light)

BTW-they served free pizza at half time. Excellent time.

Thank you, Cate! It's owned by friends-of-friends, so it's awesome to hear a great review!
