Please pardon me, everyone, while I take a moment to toot my own horn...
For the past two years I have been working on "The Sea Shack", my debut novel for middle readers (grades 4-8). This past month, it was finally published! While it was geared towards younger readers, some of my most positive comments so far have been from the adults who read it. I hoped it would be enjoyed by readers of all ages, and that certainly appears to be the case so far. It is the story of a young boy who is forced to spend the summer with his grandfather on the shore of Cape Cod. That is just the tip of the iceberg, but I am not going to relay all the details of the plot on here. If you want to know more details about the book and the story told in it, feel free to visit the website below.
Anyway, there is a connection to Winnipesaukee here. In writing this book, I found that my days on the Lake created the perfect setting for writing. I had many trips up there with the goal of working on the book. Whether it was summer or winter, Winnipesaukee played a vital role in the life and progress of "The Sea Shack". Thus, on the back cover of the book, I made sure I included mention of the lake. It is described as one of my favorite locations to get away to when I have the opportunity. My family has a condo in Gilford and who knows how far behind I would be if not for my weekends and vacations up there! Nothing like enjoying the weather of summer or a winter's fire while typing away and enjoying the scenery. Don't worry...it is my first book, I am a young author/teacher, and it is a small publisher...I do not think my mention of Winnipesaukee will make it an even greater haven for tourists trying to seek out this magical location. =) If this book is a success, I will have to keep the wonders of Winnipesaukee a secret in the next one. Actually, my next book may be set on Winnipesaukee...it is one of the three ideas in my head right now.
Anyway, just thought I would too my own horn and share the news...let everyone know that the Lake may now become internationally known as a haven for authors...lol If you want to learn more about the book any myself, feel free to visit the website. I would certainly appreciate it a great deal.
Thanks for the fun on the forum and for anyone who checks out the book, thanks for the support!
