Winter Snow 25 Feb

Winter's not done with us yet, is it? 5 inches so far, and predictions of up to a foot by tonight. Good thing we had the melt last week, to get some snow off the roof. They're saying possible power outages with this one, especially if some ice starts to mix in.

Yes we had 6.5" at 11:15 am here on the hill is west Alton. The snow is only slightly dense, not that dreaded heavy wet stuff. Not sticking to the tree limbs which is good.
Just made one pass with the plow on the 650' rather steep driveway, easy to plow.
The storm has a ways to go so we might go over the top of the 6 to 12 predicted range if the snow does not turn real wet.

Accuweather and channel 9 are talking heavy rain on Monday. That will melt everything we have today. With that said, make sure you get those roofs shoveled off this weekend, it will make that snow even heavier.

I checked the Black Cat Weather Center, but theres no listing for Moultonborough (but 12.7 in Sandwich, 9 in Wolfeboro)...
Any reports from the northern end of the lake?

Lots of snow in Moultonboro, I didn't measure but I would say at least 9 inches.

Shovelled about 5 PM and we had right at 12 inches. Got it all cleaned off where the plow guy can't get to, and it started snowing again, giving us between a half inch and inch of new snow...hard to tell with the wind and blowing.

I traveled to Alton Bay from CT on saturday, and the trees were just laydened with snow, really nice. The wind on the northern side of Echo Point has done wonders with the snow infront of the boat house and up onto the yard. It has carved waves in the snow of about 2-3 ft in depth. really nice.
While it was cold, it was pretty clear. My wife said we spent 3 1/2 hour ride up, spent five minutes there, and 30 minutes trying to make it out of the snow covered driveway, and then 3 1/2 hour ride home. You can see pictures, and have reports but nothing beats a looksee.

We had 9 inches from that storm, at Black Cat. The rain event turned out to be very light, after 1.5 inches of snow, and freezing rain. So the snow depth here is 28 inches, down from its season high of 29 inches a couple days ago. It has an icy crust on it now, which resists the sun much better than pure snow.

Those looking for the snowfall reports from this end of the lake -- the National Weather Service has changed the way they list the locations. They used to list this station as "Black Cat Island," but changed all locations to mileage from town centers. So a town only gets listed if the snowfall report was actually taken in the center of town. They listed this station as "4 S Moultonborough" meaning 4 miles south of town, until I told them it's actually closer to Center Harbor's center. If you see "3 SE Center Harbor," that would be Black Cat Island.

The Weather Channel scrolls these reports across the bottom of the screen, and they don't list the mileages from towns. Instead, they'll just say "Near Center Harbor."
