I'll bring one of my Vettes so there will be a real car there.
I did actually own a 69 428 Cobrajet which got me into a lot of trouble back in the day.

What's crazy is the 2011 Mustang GT is packing 412 hp right off the showroom floor. They are expensive (mid to high 30s so the younger crowd is having to pay for the 300+ hp V6) The muscle car wars have actually returned and Chevy has a new Camaro coming out for 2012 that GM wants to answer Ford with. I'm not a mopar guy but they have the hemi Charger and Challenger. It's fun to follow it actually and ironic this is happening while gas prices are high and the economy is wobbling along.

If you build it, they will buy!

People who own these cars only drive them 30 miles per year...so gas is not a problem. :D
PS: I bought an SS-396 Chevelle NEW in 1966. I wish I still had it. :liplick: OH: I almost forgot: The Chevelle replaced a 1963 Jaguar XKE Roadster,...I wish I still had that too..:) DAM... NB

Me too,NoBozo,I got rid of an incredible car because it was like a drug...couldn't resist nailing it now and then.0 to 60 in just under 5 seconds....causing me a few tickets.
Now,I wish I had it back.

Muskrat convention???
A co-worker was given a Challenger rental in California this past fall he said it was a sweet little car. It was a V6 and around 300 HP he said it went real nice.

The anti-Ford jokes were funnier before the government automotive bailouts.

Ford applied for 9 billion as a line of credit, but never received or asked for any money from it. That said I'll bet they got a little sumptin', sumptin' in back office bargaining....:D

Well then, please elaborate. What do you think they got in back office bargaining that allowed them to put themselves into a postion long BEFORE any of this that would have made any "sumptin' sumptin'" add any significant impact to their financial situation?
I know it's an American tradition to be a Ford guy vs. a Chevy guy. But in the current state of things, Chevy guys cracking jokes on Ford is like throwing "yo momma so fat" jokes at Clauda Schiffer's offspring.
FWIW, I own 2 Fords (SuperCrew and Explorer), a GM product (Cadillac) and a Nissan product (350Z). They all have their pros and cons.

Sam, go buy another car and then take it to New England Dragway. Most Wed and Fri nights are street night. You get to keep your foot in the gas all the way through the 1/4 mile:D
It's a hoot and there are some fast cars out on the road.

Actually my Brother is a top level manager for Ford. So I know that they got tax incentives and credit bargaining power within the "bailout" system. No they never applied for bailout but got some pretty nice tax presents to stay in business and out of the bailout program. Chevy and Chrysler were not so well off and took what they could get. Ford also worked more closely with the Unions and were in a better bargaining position to do so than the other two automakers. Ford didn't wait for the economy to slide before taking action to save their company. Can't say the same for Chevrolet or Chrysler as I don't know if they did or not. BTW I own a Ram, a Toyota, a Ford Fusion and Ford powered Factory Five Racing Roadster. I have owned 7 Ford Pickups a Ford Ranchero, an LTD, and Galaxie 500. I'll never own a GM product.

It is.....But then I own a Dodge....Sorry FIAT...Ram. Not Chrysler. :laugh::D
I guess when you own a few Chevy's and have nothing but problems you simply stop buying them. Now if someone GAVE me a Chevy...:D Funny thing is that I have owned multiple Dodge trucks and never had any of the issues some have had with Transmissions, ball joints etc. I had a Dodge truck that had 208,000 miles when I sold. I know for a fact that it is still on the road and being used by the same guy I sold it to over 5 years ago, before I moved up here. Go figure eh?

Ford is great! And their management needs to be commended as well. They seem to be right on. I owned a few, a 1966 mustang coupe, Awesome, got a lot of happy miles out of it. Another was an 1978 T Bird with a tow package what got us to many vacation areas that included Cape Breton Island NS. Also a 1979 f-150 special built pick up with a 460 cu" engine, 425 hp with the headers corked up.
Now, I will also say that with any vehicle, it helps that the operator should have some, and be tuned into some sort of what they call ( mechanical awareness ), I'm being kind here, did you notice?... In other words, don't try to mow your lawn with the kitchen sink garbage disposal. :)
OKay, just to let you all know that I didn't start this, Idiot lights have and were installed ( In The Instrument Panel since years now ) on most cars, cause there would be a heavy fine for using that Big spring loaded Boxing glove, kind'a like deploying the airbags,... Get my drift? :)
Let me say again, ( Read Your Owner's Manual ) get o' custom to it, learn about and you will become mechanically inclined!
No matter which vehicle manufacturer you choose, and enjoy, the above is meant to help and make them more enjoyable.
I think that I love GM products and Chevy is one of the best. My 1967 Impala had over 250,000 miles on it when I sold it and I think it is still running today.
MyFamily of 11, at the time, moved out to LA California from Stoneham Ma. back in 1952 towing our 46' trailer home that weighed 7.5 tons with a 1949 Buick RoadMaster straight 8 cylinder that had a dynaflow automatic transmission. 4,376 mile journey over all the Rocky Mountains too.
What?... An Automobile!! :)
Terry

That second picture is awesome. It is like an advertisement for Americana....
Sounds like you had quite the adventure.
When I was younger....way younger....My Father was in the Marines. We crossed the country several times. But my only real memory was of two trips. One in a 1963 Buick Special. And the Other in a Buick Roadmaster station wagon with the moon roof bubble thingy in the back seat section. I remember watching the stars and street lights go by at night while my Father was driving along towing the UHaul trailer to our new home. Oh and all we had for entertainment back then while traveling was an Etch-A-Sketch. No Dvd players, Ipads, Cell phone texting back then.
Thanks for bringing back those memories.....
Here I am in front of the '63 Buick Special.....I just graduated Kindergarten in Alabama in this pic.
