Dan,

I've been fishing off Belknap Point and half way from there out to Welch and all the way over to Lockes there is plenty of Ice. There has been a lot of sled traffic between glendale and Diamond Island. I'd say you'd be safe walking or riding a sled out to your side of Welch.

The last time I was out there was a week ago today and at that point I had a consistent 6". I would say the ice has built steadily since then and with the incoming cold temps., I'd say there will be close to a foot or more by this time next week.

has anyone been out there lately? I heard as of monday there was still a 3" layer of water under the snow. I'm hoping the cold was enough to freeze solid.

Hi
I also have heard that Lake Winni, and maybe others, the ice is layered: So, from top going down, it's snow, ice, water, ice. The snow can insulate the ice, evidently.

I was on Paugus Bay from Burger King following corridor 15. The slush had frozen solid and made for a rough ride. I would imagine that would be true anywhere there was slush. Todays warmer temps may have changed everything though.
