Some sad news on the WMUR site. Hope she has a successful recovery.

MOULTONBOROUGH, N.H. -- A 7-year-old child is recovering after a snowmobile crash in Moultonborough.

Fish and Game officers said they were called to the Long Island area at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday in response to the crash.

Police said the child was being towed on a tube behind the snowmobile when the tube hit a tree.

The child's grandfather was driving the snowmobile at the time of the accident, officers said.

Paramedics said the child suffered injuries to the face and the head. The victim was taken to Lakes Region General Hospital, and then later transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Officials said the child was not wearing a helmet at the time, and by law anyone under 18 must wear a helmet and eye protection when out on a snowmobile.

Police said it is illegal to tow someone using a rope. Officials said it must be a ridged hitch.

I know people are just trying to have fun, but pulling a tube with a snowmobile is crazy.

Please be careful out there.

Agreed VB but there is stupid also. I'll bet gramps had his helmet on while he's in control of the snowmobile. The tuber is at the mercy of the operator. I could sort of excuse playing around with adults on the tube but a helpless child. Dumb.:(

Its sad to hear about accidents like this. I'll bet gramps is going through a living hell.
Unfortunatly you see this on home video shows to often. Although the artical states some sort of rigged hitch was used, many times the tubber lets go of the rope in a corner, like what a water skier does as he comes by shore, and they no longer follow to tow vehicle, they suddenly continue straight into what ever object is waiting. Usually the water skier ends up doing a face plant into the sand.
