Hello everyone.
Well, here we go..AGAIN!! Hurricane Jeanne is headed our way. Expected to make landfall about 1.a.m. tomorrow. Somewhere between Ft. Pierce and Daytona. She's going to go right over Central Florida, our area outside of Orlando, and right up over Gilly 20 in Gainesville. It's been absolutely horrid this season. I missed Frances, as I was up there, but not this one. :cool:
So, send good thoughts our way. I don't know where it is FLBoater goes, but that's probably going to be impacted, as well.

I’m still boating in NH. About go out for a ride today. I go to Bonita Springs down by Naples. So far we only were impacted from Charlie and that was minimal. Just vegetation. Where I boat by Sanbiel, Capitiva, Ussappa, Pine Island, and Cayo Casa, all had heavy damage. I’ve cancelled a Nov. trip because the marina and inn are not there. It looks like you have not been so lucky.

We live at the lake year-round now. Even this past blustery winter didn't deter us! It's really fascinating watching the ice form. Depending on the wind and overnight temperatures, the lake can be mostly open water one day and the next day many areas can be frozen over. Last winter the high winds in late December and early January kept the lake open even though the overnight temperatures were getting extremely low. Then one night the wind died and the lake practically flash-froze overnight.

It will be interesting to be able to watch the ice form on the Broads this upcoming winter thanks to Island Girl's "Snake Eyes" webcam (www.rattlesnakecam.com (http://www.rattlesnakecam.com/)).

Lady Di, you Floridians are in our thoughts. Everywhere I go, someone is talking about it. Almost everyone knows someone who lives down there. You’ve certainly had your fair share of storms this year. I hope this isn’t a precursor to a rough winter for the whole country. Good luck. Stay safe and keep us posted.

It was so wonderful to have those 2 glorious weeks there. I hadn't forgotten how beautiful it is, but it had been a LONG time since my last visit.
The afternoon I went to Long Island on Moultonborough Neck was a perfect day.
It was almost enough to make me want to move back, but that will change come winter. :)

I could have done without that map, GWC. The eye crossed MY PLACE!

Hurricane Charley dropped my absentee-neighbor's huge (20" diameter) pine tree across my roof. My other neighbors asked if I wanted it cut down. I told them it was too big -- too dangerous, and it might keep the roof "on" with the approach of Hurricane Frances.

Hurricane Frances hit there, but was a very "wet" storm, and there were no changes -- outside, anyway. Called again, I stated "I'm not leaving New Hampshire".

They cut down the tree anyway, bless their hearts. Now comes Hurricane Jeanne. (I understand the name "Jeanne" will be forever retired, after three big "hits" as hurricanes.)

Just preceding Ivan, my insurance agent called (physically moved in to Florida from Louisiana), asking if I wanted my house inspected. I told him "Don't worry about me -- there's others living in worse shape in [nearby] Arcadia".

He said that was probably a good thing for me, as I would be making just one claim instead of three. Puzzled, I asked "Why is that a good thing?"

He stated "You'll have just one deductible (of $1000), instead of three ($3000).

Nice thought there, State Farm. Thanks.

We fared very well here in our section of Lake County. The pictures of the devastation are heart wrenching. Nobody will likely forget this hurricane season.

I laughed about the "log on the fire" comment. At least I don't have any rain to shovel. :laugh:

I got a call from Mom on Saturday morning telling me her power was out.She knew her weather nut of a son would be watching satelite/radar loops as usual.She was at her place in Venice and needed to know where Jeanne was headed.I told her she was not in the path but she said they were experiencing 60 MPH winds and heavy rain.So as I say goodbye, she tells me my dad and her(76&75 years old) are headed to the beach and jetty to watch the storm.Talk about role reversal!I was worry about THEM being out in the weather. I could not get a cab from the training center I was in, so walked from Thomas Circle to Georgetown, about 16 blocks. I was soaked. I finally found a CVS to buy an umbrella which helped a little. I want to be back in my little camp in the middle of the lake!

The warnings have moved north east. The danger is gone.

I think I like the nice blizzards we have in New England instead. I fly home tomorrow, back to the lake on the weekend. I look forward to being back where I belong. The food here iin DC is expensive and lousy.

.... Maybe it's time for another lobster roll. I took this while waiting for one last Friday.... Hey Pepper... can you ship me one?
