The boat reg went up last year (2010 season) - almost double the previous year. This year seems about the same as last. All I can say is be carefull who you vote for - although NH seems to have "gotten it" for the most part with latest election results. Please keep that direction going otherwise NH will continue to more closely resemble the southern NE states.
Been there done that. All set with that!

Last year $109.64. This year $109.64. That's for a 2002 Four Winns Horizon 180 and a 1998 Bombardier GTS.
In my mind, that's good value. No complaints here.

Last session when the fees went up, there were several factors involved.
Fees had not changed since the late 80's. Averaged out, this was about 3% year increase. Unfortunately, it all came at once. Previously, Marine Patrol had been getting by because the numbers of registrations had been increasing every year. In the last couple of years, registrations had been declining.
Included in the fee was some money to go to milfoil eradication. There was also a slice for Search and Rescue which is managed by the Fish & Game folks, although MP obviously plays a big part here.
Recall that when you pay to Concord directly, the state gets the tax portion as well as the fee. If you register locally, in your town hasll or marina, for example, the town gates the tax money and if you're a resident, you can vote as to how that money is spent.
The catch is that the agent's fee went up too, to more fairly compensate the agent (Town Clerk, marina) for the actuial time it takes to fill out the forms.
As I recall, there was little or no opposition to the particular bill. Most boaters wanted MP on the lakes and wanted to get rid of milfoil. In other words, they saw value.
This year, there will be a review of all fee and taxes implemented since 2007 under a bill filed by Rep. Hess (r, Hooksett) , as well as many other bills aimed directly at specific items.
