In addition to the Old White Church in Tuftonboro, there's folk music every Friday night at the Strawberry Patch in Wolfeboro. It's an open mic and everyone is invited to come play some music! It was started by Franz from the Folk Cellar, and it is a great place to make some music in an atmosphere where the music is the focus.

I'll be filling in for Franz as host this coming Friday, and I'd like to invite both musicians and everyone who likes great music to join us. It's a no alcohol venue, so you don't have to be 21 to play, and you don't have to be a seasoned professional to be treated with respect.

I started playing back in the 60's at a coffee house in Portsmouth called the New World. This is the same kind of atmosphere, and encourages new musicians to perfect their craft while playing for a receptive audience.

I hope you can join us next Friday, December 3, for an evening of fine music in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no cover charge. It starts at 7 and ends whenever; usually around 9. Everyone get a chance to play!

Hope to see you there!

Hi Prop-B-Gone,
That sounds like fun, I wish I could get up there on Friday! I did go get my "Silvertone" from the Guitar Cellar, and I love it! What a fantastic job they did with an old guitar. It sounds great. One of these days I am going to get up there "in time" on a Friday night for "Open Mic," BUT you won't hear me play (unless I really get better...LOL) but it sounds like a "throw back" from the 1960, when there were "Coffee Shops," in old brick buildings, and locals could just come an play there music. Many Jazz and Folk singer groups got there start in them. Maybe we have local stars waiting to be found. You never know!

Only Folk?

Let's call it "Acoustic Music". Last Friday covered several different styles, Country, Acoustic Rock, Blues, as well as Folk, including a couple of 50's tunes, which, at this point, are probably old enough to be considered Folk!

Come down and play. It's all about making music!

In the 70's it was folk...

In the 80's it was acoustic...

In the 90's it was unplugged...

...call it what you will, but I call it all good... :D

Mr. Prop-B-Gone are you the MC? If so, would you like to MC another Open Mic at Tavern 27, in Laconia on Tues nights? OR would anyone else like to?

Are there any open mic nights anywhere for "plugged in"?

Just wanted to say thank you to all the musicians who showed up at the Strawberry Patch last night, and those who came to listen. I had a great time and I hope you did too! And special thanks to John, who transforms the Strawberry Patch every Friday night into a great place to make music!

See you next Friday night!

TB

PS. Baygo, I sent you a private message about doing an open mic at the Tavern. Give me a call.

Just came across this listing for a plugged in open mic on Craigslist.

Looks like it's Wednesday nights in Portsmouth at the FooBar.

Hope this helps!
