M/S Mount Washington on land

I had the opportunity morning to witness the M/S Mount Washington being pulled up on to land. Are there more upgrades taking place this year?

I notice that the Mount isn't pulled every winter into drydock. Is there some benefit to leaving in the lake over the winter, or is it just the cost of pulling it up that is the issue?

They pull it out about every 5 years to "kick the tires" ... and do any needed hull work, prop work and paint the bottom.

... or is it every 4 years ... memory it the second thing to fail and I forget what the first is.

Thanks for the replies. I understand there is a schedule for maintenance. However, my question remains. Is there some benefit to leaving it in the lake over the winter? Most boats are pulled out of the water in the winter, every winter. Isn't it better to pull the Mount too? The bubblers most cost them something to run all winter. Or is this method less costly than pulling it?

The boat is much happier in the water, as you can imagine it's best to have the weight distributed across the entirety of the hull surface. On the cradle it is distributed only down the keel and and certain strategic points by bilge blocks.

They even left it in the water when removing the old and installing the new engines this year. They keep a few heavy-duty bubblers running around it, and it just bobs in its own little pond of open water, surrounded by bob houses.

That had the florescent front lighting. Now they have LED back lighting....Funny.
