Happy Fall to everyone. I am visiting Meredith with my family the week of Thanksgiving. We want to ski a couple of the days. Can you suggest the best place at this time of the year for beginners? I called Bretton Woods and they said they open for Halloween so I figured the other ski areas up north also would be open for Thanksgiving week. A few in my family are beginners and my wife wants to try somewhere other than Bretton Woods.
I understand there is a winter sports forum but I posted on the general forum since there is very little activity over there. If you have any other suggestions for fun at this time please post. Thanks to everyone and have a wonderful Fall.

BW being open for Halloween would be very unlikely. I can count on one hand the number of times any ski area has been open by Halloween in the east. It does happen but I'm not sure if BW has ever opened in October. Sunday River was last year but expect one trail with a lot of people and challenging conditions. Most big mountains are open by Thanksgiving depending on the weather obviously. In NH you should find Loon, Waterville, Cannon, Sunnapee, Bretton Woods, Wildcat, and probably Gunstock to name a few. Most with very limited terrain barring big early season and unusual snowfall. The king of lots of early season terrain would be Sunday River Maine. Your mileage may vary.:D

Gunstock does not open until Dec 3rd this year.

Bretton opens Dec 10th.

Wildcat is scheduled for a 11/26 opening. Gondola sky ride and the Zip line will be closed by then.

When I called ragged Mountain they said they would try for T-Day this year if it was going to stay cold enough. If not the weekend after.

I would imagine they are all dependent on weather staying cold so as not to waste the water making it for nothing.
