Once again I will be teaching two Fish & Game Youth Safety Snowmobile classes in close proximity to the Big Lake.

My first class will be on Saturday, December 4th at Samantha's Inn on Route 16 in Tamworth, NH. The Class runs from 9:00 am until approximately 3:00 pm. This class is sponsored by my home club, the Ossipee Valley Snowmobile Club, which will once again provide a free pizza buffet for the children's lunch.

My second class will be a week later, Saturday December 11th at the Emma Ramsey Community Center on Route 16 in Milton, NH. Again this class runs from 9:00 am until approximately 3:00 pm and is sponsored by my other club, the Evergreen Valley Snowmobile Club. Children are asked to bring their own lunches to this event.

Riding gear is not needed at either class, but children need to bring warm clothes as we spend about half an hour outside going over a snowmobile in the parking lot.

There are no costs for either class. All costs are born by the State and the sponsoring Club. Parents can sit in and audit the class, or come and go as they please.

The class in gor children 12 or older. However if room is available I will teach an 11 year old who will turn 12 sometime during this present riding season.

The OVSC class is already posted on the Fish & Game website. The Milton class should be posted by week's end. Please check the website for my contact information and any updates HERE! (http://wildlife.state.nh.us/OHRV/ohrv.htm#snowmobile).

Finally I limit each class to a maximum of 25 students. It is best to register early and always notify me as soon as possible if you need to cancel a registration.

Looking forward to certifying another 50 smiling faces in December! :)

Thank you Skip- for teaching the class and posting this!

The MSC will be sponsoring a class as well on 12/18/2010 from 0800 through 1530 at Geneva Point Center, Geneva Point Road, Moultonborough (down off the Neck Road). Steve Janaitas teaches the class and has been doing so for years. My son and nephew took it at age 11 and it was very informative. The only thing lacking was snow!

Adults need a class as well... are there any in the area?

In NH there is no requirement for adults to attend. As long as you have a valid driver's license you are good to go.

This class allows children 12 and above (with a number of conditions taught in the class) to operate on the trail systems.

Many instructors will allow adults to audit the class. Some instructors ask for a parent to be present but for my clases that is optional.

Many times I find the kids in the class to know more about the legal and safety requirements than the parents!

Best bet is to check the F&G link I gave and if you see a class convenient to you see if that instructor would allow you to sit in.

At our Safety Classes we encourage the Parents to be present with their children. I think in most case they get as good as education as the children taking the class.

I am sure there would be no problem if some one wanted to "Audit" the class.

It is also a good way to find "NEW" volunteers.
