Weird problem

Has anyone else seen a warning like this on Winni.com?

I had it appear twice last week on my laptop while away on business. 2 times in 2 different locations on 2 different hotel wireless systems. I figured there was some problem with my laptop. Funnier still, when I logged off, and then logged back in, the problem disappeared. I couldn't figure it out.

Now back home, on my home computer, hooked up thru metrocast, I'm getting the same message. Not all the time, sometimes if I log on and get the message, I reboot and get thru. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 reboots.

Strange.

Any help appreciated.

I goggled the exact message, and got lot's of hits. Seems Goggle Chrome is being blamed by some. My issue is, I don't have Goggle Chrome on either computer.

Others blame Windows 7, others blame or viruses in adware on some sites. My laptop is Windows 7, my home computer is Vista. So I don't think it's the OS. I'm lost for any other ways to go.

This has just started in the last week. The only place I see it is on Winni.com... and it is not an "everytime" event. Way strange.

Looks like this is a Google AdSense problem.

The complaints seems to have started last week, just when I was seeing the problem.

Hope they get it fixed soon.

I experienced the same problem even before September 14th, when I expressed my first "workaround" (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showpost.php?p=139897&postcount=26) to enable posting here. (And to only one other forum—which is based in our Lakes Region. :confused:)

For IE6 and IE7 only...Google sent me to Microsoft support, which published their September 23, 2010 "workaround-2 (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ncNwlk15Oy8J:support.microsoft.com/kb/927917+%22operation-aborted%22,+%22internet-explorer%22,&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us)" soothing the site, and the problem is now seldom seen. :look:

I had been getting a smlilar message but not just here it was on many sites and yes it may have been an adsense problem. If I hit the back button the intended page would display with no problems. I did a windows update (XP Pro and IE6) and the problem has not returned on any site.

Thanks ApS, there are some good workarounds that they recommend.

Whenever they include any web links... Could be that their individual computer is infected in some way... :confused:

If you get a pop-up from any source that makes you suspicious you should close out by using ALT F4. Clicking the buttons and tabs inside the window can sometimes make your system think it is a permission click to accept a download. Some folks know how to fake a pop-up this way. If there is a tab in your tray you can close from there as well.

...And that's all I think I know about that.
