Where are the best places on the Lake to get a view of Mount Washington (the big hunk of rock, not the ship!)? I like the view from the Timber/Round/Camp Island neighborhood...any others out there?

I think your spot is the only place you can view the mountain from the water. We start our season with our first cruise to that spot with a bottle of champaigne and make a call to friends that could not join us.

On the way from Glendale to Welch we get a good view in the vicinity of light # 26. That, of course, is not far from Timber.

Living near the samoset condominium area, we have a spectacular view of Mt Washington on clear days. Speacially during the fall months. We can also see 'Sunnyside' on Mt Techumseh.

on a clear fall day I saw it from Lees Mills - does that make sense? didn't to me but there it was looming.

You can see it well from Mountain View Yacht Club in Gilford. It's usually easy to identify because of the snow cap.

Head out of Lees Mills and as you pass Balmoral Bay on your left as if heading to Moultonboro Bay, right past the island in Balmoral Bay you can get a clear shot of Mt. Washington on a clear day. Easy to see in the spring as it's the only Mt. covered in snow still usually.

I agree with Samoset, but would extend that view far into The Broads—and from any boat. :look:

I thought you could see it from the western tip of Rattlesnake Island. There's even a section of the island called "Washington View" - over on the far west end.
Have not personally checked it out, although I have been to the west end of the island many times!
