For many years I have been coming to Winnipesaukee. There have been good years, and bad years, and everything in between. This year was one of those years that really stands out. No it has nothing to do with any of political crap or legal cases that have brought so much attention to the area. In fact those have negatively effected the year if you ask me. Rather what set this year a part from the other is the friendships I have made around the lake. I have been search for years to for a way to make the lake seem more like home and this year through various ways that has happened.

First I got married, I now have a wife who has brought not only herself into my life but her two wonderful boys. No longer do I have to wonder if I am going to have company when I head to the family camp. Although I always hope to see my mother, niece and sister, I know I will always have my wife and the boys to enjoy the lake with me when I am there. Sure the weekends alone at the lake had some appeal, but taking the boat out by myself had lost its excitement.

Second because of my involvement in Various groups and my willingness to meet people I now am starting to meet people around the lake. No longer do I feel as though I can expect to go around the lake and be completely unrecognized... it is nice to know that every once in a while someone is going to recognize you...

Third I have created some habits on the lake... I have my Saturday Breakfast routine, that takes me to center Harbor For breakfast and to run an errands I need to... And because of my #2 reason for this being a banner year, I now run into people I know, and have the chance to chat a little with them when I am out and about.

4th and probably the most important reason this is a banner year for me on the lake. Now that I have started meeting people around the lake, I now have people to go visit by boat. The boat rides to town tend to get boring after a while, and see the same view from my camp all the time is old. But when you start to build up enough friends so that you can stop in and see people and say hello when its convenient for all the parties involved. Being on the lake and taking the boat out, becomes just like being at home and running out to do errands ..... You get a chance to look at a different view, enjoy some conversation... it seems to have brought an completely new enjoyment to the lake for me

To all those people I have met, and visited this year, Thank-you, for your hospitality, friendship, and for sharing your slice of heaven. You must also remember you are welcome at my slice of heaven as well... For as much fun as it is to pull up to someone else's dock, I have found extreme joy in watching someone pull up to mine.

The spectacular weather surely made Reasons 1, 2, 3 and 4 all that much more enjoyable! I'm going to remember the Summer of 2010 . . .

With such lovely weather many wonderful frirends visited.

It was indeed a summer that will always remain in my memory as one of the times when it did seem that, "God's in his Heaven, all's right with the world" was the order of each day. (God sometimes likes it too hot for some though.)

And I went to my first Forum Fest that was really a treat and met some nice new people who I hope will be friends.

Not only was the weather epic this summer we also welcomed the next generation at our camp with the birth of our first Child in late May. Maggie loves the Baja almost as much as dad does :)
