My daughter and her friend are 16 years old. We will be coming up to the Lake August 14-21. Anyone know of any teen "nightclubs" or other teen activities in the area? I'm concerned that she and her friend might get bored, and I'm looking for something that they might be interested in, since they are beyond the Funspot and waterslide age.

There is that roller skating place that opened up where the hardware store used to be in Laconia.

I think there are also a couple of bars around the Weirs area that don't do a steady job checking ID's (just kidding).

Do you have a boat (or access to one)? They might enjoy an afternoon at Braun Bay.

You may want to check their schedule to see who's playing while you're up. My 17 year old daughter and her boyfriend are going to see Paramore on Tuesday.

I second Braun Bay if you have access to a boat.

Weirs Beach isn't a bad place to walk around for an hour or two. The drive-in there can be fun too. Does she drive?

If she likes hiking, there are dozens of great ones around. If she is, get back to me and I can let you know which ones to do. Five Finger on Squam lake has a "jumping rock" that kids jump off into crystal clear, deep water at the end of the hike. It's pretty cool. My 12 year old son loved it. We brought our snorkel gear and snorkeled all around the little island about 50 yards across from the rock.

If I think of anything else, I'll post again.

I don't want to hijack the thread so we can move it to the outdoor section, but where is the Five Finger Trail, i did try googling (new word), but did not have much success

thanks

Two teenage girls?

Oh heck, the Tanger Outlet Mall in Tilton would probably keep them busy for a while - and maybe they could get a little back to school shopping outta the way...

Teenage kids are interested in other teenage kids, take them to the Wiers or the mall. Or at least somewhere they can text each other.

It's off Rt 113 in Holderness. Depending on which direction you're coming on 113, look for Pinehurst Drive (on the right if you're traveling north). Take it for a mile to the gate. Park your car and the trail signs are up on your left.

And I think it's actually called Five Finger Point. Have fun!!!

Look for the point of land between True Cove and Rattlesnake cove.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did not know about the roller rink in Laconia or the Monkey Trunks in Chocurua. And the Outlet Mall is certainly good for an afternoon. Thanks again!

Local mom with three teens - 15, 17, 18 -

I'd suggest any place where they might meet some local kids -
BEACH! (the town beaches are beautiful - with lots of local boys :)
Bowling (Funspot)
Meadowbrooks - a few concerts per week -
Weirs Drive-in (kids just went last night)
Rollerskating
Water Parks (many w/i 1 hour)
I'd stay away from Braun Bay - a bit too much of a party some times;
The West Alton Sand Bar is more family-friendly

Campfires and s'mores are always good -

Have a great visit!

My 16 year old son has been on the lake the whole summer and was unable to get a job so he is bored stiff and is looking for someone to hang-out with.

We'll also be up August 14-21 staying on Moultonborough neck. We'll have 4 teenage boys (15-17) with us who would probably like to try and impress your girls.
Or maybe I'm just asking for trouble.

Thanks to BackBay, Formula and DBreskin. That's kind of what I was thinking of - spending time with kids their own age. I will run these suggestions past the girls. The bowling alley at Funspot sounds like a good idea. I imagine there's a lot of teenagers on a Friday or Saturday night. Down here in the Providence area, they have these teenie dance clubs where the kids congregate, supervised of course. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

Have them try wakeboarding! We run an instructional business on the lake, check us out at http://www.wakeupandride.com

Thanks for the suggestion but we've got our own boat.
