Okay, so the campground is doing halloween in July and we are unprepared. Anyone have any ideas on where to get a halloween costume on short notice (24hrs) near Moultonborough. Or...ideas for impromptu costumes for a 6,7 and 9 y/o boy.

Thanks,
HCG

Try going to the ETC shop in Meredith (or any other second hand shop). You should be able to find something cheap.

Why buy something? Have the kids make their costumes...

Simple ideas...
Ghost = A sheet with holes cut in it for the eyes
Hobo = old clothes with rips and patches, a bandanna tied in a sack on a stick, some dirt (makeup or paint) on face
Gypsey = bright colored clothing, skirts, lots of costume jewelry, scarfs
Robot = boxes decorated with aluminum foil with a "keypad" (drawn on paper)
Black Eyed Peas = using black facepaint, write a letter "P" around each eye
Quarterback = draw a quarter on a large sheet of paper. Tape it to the kid's back.
Smartie Pants = get a bag of Smarties candy - tape the rolls of Smarties to the kid's pants

Bag of jelly beans... clear trash bag with different color balloons inside.

Butler ... black pants, white shirt, black vest made of felt, white gloves with a tray.

Look online ... when we went camping in August, they had the same thing.

We made a road. Black tshirt and used dimensional paint to make the lines. We then glued old cars and some signs on the tshirt.

OK here's a topical one ....

Go to hardware store and get a cheap white painters coverall, one with head bonnet and booties. Get a basket, a towel, a bottle of Dawn and a stuffed animal ... perhaps a Pelican or Duck or Sea Turtle. Also see if you can still get that gooey plastic stuff, Slime or Gak, in brown or black (or make your own, Google it). Dress the kid up in overall, dirty his/her face with brown/black makeup. Slap some Slime all over his coveralls and the stuffed animal. Put the animal, towel and Dawn in the basket. Voila your a Gulf Coast shrimper ... errrr ... cleanup worker.

Back In The Late Forties....

My Mom had made me an Ancha Mima costume, and with makeup and all, I set out into the neighborhood on one Halloween and had to have one of the neighbors call home and summon the family pickup truck to come and get me. I had collected tons of candy!! :liplick: :) :D

Hey, and when the party's over, plan an all American breakfast for the next morning. Pancakes, or even some 'fried bread using my Mom's Bisquick recipe! MMMM MMMM Good! :liplick:
