Spider Dropping Removal

Just wanted to recommend a product I recently found on the internet and decided to try. Those of you with covered docks or boathouses know what a pain spider poo can be. With normal cleansers I always wound up scrubbing way too much for each black spot on the boat. The product in the attached link worked as advertised - spray on, minimal scrub, & rinse. I plan to buy more. I have no connection with the company that makes this; just a happy customer.

Thanks for the recommendation. I understand that Simple Green also does a good job with this problem and I believe it is biodegradable.

I had tried Simple Green first and it didn't work nearly as well. I had asked the developers of this product about environmental safety and they replied that it was safe to be used while the boat was in the water and not damaging to the lake. Of course I have no way of verifying their claim but concern for the lake was the reason I tried Simple Green first. This product is a bit expensive since you have to pay for shipping but it definitely worked well.

I use this product from Starbrite. Have had very good results. They also make one to repel spiders.

We don't have any spider droppings on the boat that I am aware of, but we do have a bazillion tiny hardened black spots from what is known as Artillery Fungus. It's a fungus that is usually contained within mulch. Two years ago the spots totally ruined a set of laundry I had set out to dry. The spots are on the house, deck vinyl siding, birdfeeders, etc. and we are not the only ones to be suffering from this problem in our neighborhood. Consequently, we are tearing up the mulch and putting down more grass. Does anyone have experience trying to remove this type of nastiness? I wonder if this product would work.

Thank you DM. I assumed the spots on 2 of our cars that are left outside were spider droppings when in effect they were made by artillery fungus. We removed them today with Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover.
The ones on our boats are definitely of spider origin.

I use White http://i25.tinypic.com/rvfrsl.gif which I purchase at a little general store in Waldoboro ME. It works on most any type of spots on all materials. I think I paid $8 for a 8 OZ. bottle. It comes in a paste/liquid.:)

I sent off an email to ask if "Drop-Off" would work on Artillery Fungus. Here is the response I received.


We have not tested our product on fungi, and I am not sure if Drop-Off will work on this application. I do know our product is designed to attack "organic" compounds, and that it has been used very successfully for removal of spider droppings on vinyl siding, painted window sills, and stucco. I would say that it might work, but can not make any guarantees.
