I'm posting this as a reminder to check on your neighbors and friends and family - especially the elderly and disabled - during this heatwave we're experiencing. This isn't going to break until Saturday, from the sounds of it.

There's some "cooling centers" opened up where people can go to spend time in the AC. The closest to the Lakes Region is in Rochester:

ROCHESTER - Public Library (65 South Main St.) - 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

ROCHESTER - City Hall Council Chambers (31 Wakefield St.) - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday

There's a few air conditioned places in my little town - such as our library. (Gilman Library - Main St.). It might also be a good day to catch a movie or something of the sort. Anyhow, stay cool. :)

Good thoughts A.W., and here's another kool spot!

In Holderness (Rt 93-exit 25) just before the bridge crosses the river to Plymouth's Main St area, the all new 14-million dollar Plymouth State University Ice Arena which opens on Monday, July 19, www.skateplymouthstate.com, could possibly become a good place to seek refuge from a heat wave. Plus maybe watch a hockey practice, or even go ice skating, or just sit back, chill out, and read the newspaper or Winnipesaukee Forum on their PSU wifi?
