If these things found their way into Winnipesaukee, you could kiss the Lake goodbye. Just Google them and check out some of the videos. Worse than Zebra mussels, snake fish, and Canada Geese combined.

Seems like with all the invasive species out there it's almost an impossible feat to battle them all. There is only so much that can be done legislatively to prevent the spread of invasive species. Unless people take it upon themselves to be aware of what they can do to prevent such things from spreading no law or fee is going to stop it from happening. Only if everyone is aware of what is out there threatening to spread and understand what they can actively do to prevent proliferation it's just a matter of time. Seems as though once introduced it's pretty much game over. Just look at the milfoil problem. About all we can hope to do at this point is to control it.
I'd love to see the F&G send out annual pamphlets with all boat registrations outlining what invasive species threatens our lakes and ponds. Educating the public has to be part of any solution. If millions upon millions of dollars can be found to study things that are far less important (dare I say for many down right useless) this could be a cheap and very effective tool to keep the general public engaged. I also think if it hasn't already happened - have this covered, even in brief, in the boater education courses. I took mine right as the classes were first offered and they never mentioned this stuff at all. Every little bit helps.
