...fist, I'm buying a laptop for when I'm up there next month for four weeks. Who has the best cell phone coverage? The wireless laptop cards are sold by wireless companies so I need to know which one works the best in Wolfeboro. I'll be on Winter Harbor off of Forest Road.

Second, if I don't get coverage, are there any WIFI spots (again, in Wolfeboro-Gilford, Laconia, Meredith, etc won't work for me) in town?

Thanks in advance.

Oh ya, if I'm not a Wolfeboro resident, can I get a library card?

I am on the Wolf side of Rattlesnake and get 4 bars on my wireless verizon card in my lap top. I'm using it now.

There was a recent discussion on Verizon coverage around the lake.

We have found Verizon works most places in Wolfeboro. We currently use a Verizon mifi card and used to use a Kyocera card. My wife has a 3G IPAD that uses AT&T as the service. It's pretty spotty in Wolfeboro, especially on the lake where we are.

We showed a proof of residency to get a library card. I would call them to see if they have a visitors card.

MY verizon phone works almost everywhere too since they put their new tower up about 3 years ago. The library does charge for people other than Wolfeboro residents to get a library card.

Before I had wifi I was able to get a non-resident library card in both Moultonborough and Alton. I don't remember what the fee was for Moultonborough ($10 or $20) but the Alton card was $20 for the calendar year. As long as you can supply an address and local phone #, I was asked no questions.

The Wolfeboro library has free wifi. It is on Rt 28 next to the police station. No library card is required. The only card that you'll need is the wireless card built into your laptop. :)

I live in Wolfeboro. Although there is spotty ATT voice service, there is no data service at all. For reasonable data rate, Verizon is your only choice.

Looks like Verizon is my best choice.

Kind of ironic considering I just retired from there yesterday (at the ripe old age of 37) because I couldn't stand the company they had "evolved" into.

But thanks for the suggestions!!:D
