Police Probe Death In Meredith, NH

MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) ― Police in Meredith are investigating the death of a man who was involved in an incident involving several people. Details remain sketchy.

Police were called early Sunday to a home at 16 Lake Street. After searching the home, officers discovered a deceased adult male, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his family. An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police say several other people are believed to have been involved in the incident. Two of them have been identified as adult males who were also injured. One of them was treated and released from a local hospital and another man is in serious condition and remains hospitalized.

Police say an investigation is still in the early stages.

My daughter's friend lives on Lake St steps away from the mess. Rumors are drugs and people not from Meredith caused it. I guess time will tell what rumors are true and what is reality. Sad to have this stuff happening up here.:(

No arrest. Obvious. Drugs involved. Self defense of man who is dead acting crazy. will be forgotten real soon
Of course, this is pure speculation. no arrest tells something. If someone was a threat to the community, they would be under arrest

I went by late yesterday afternoon and they had the street taped off. There was also a car that they had wrapped up with a tarp and a flatbed sitting waiting. At that point I didn't know what was going on until I got home and saw the news where 3 men had been stabbed and one was dead. Still no identity yet.
Its not just the big cities anymore

Not one mention of this story on channel nine tonight. Their office is 100 yards from the crime scene.....the most horrific crime in Meredith, ever and they don't even bother with it. Seems to me that we should be getting a report from law enforcement. It is their duty to report to the taxpayers. Something is wrong when we have to get details from private citizens.

This article seems to cover what happened pretty well, since law enforcement is just wasting our time. http://www.citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100608/GJNEWS02/706089920/-1/CITIZEN I can understand the local police agencies are not familiar with this type of crime, but I agree that law enforcement shouldn't be so "tight-lipped." It's kind of annoying.

Channel 9 could care less since it's the only state-wide TV station in NH. Even Maine has three local TV stations.

Sam:

Let the police handle the murder in due course. I'm sure they are trying to establish the facts and solve the crime before updating the "taxpayers".

When an murder investigation is under way the media will freely give their slant, even while knowing perfectly well that law enforcement needs to gather every and all evidence in advance of making any public statements...
Nothings too NEW, even to the at larger "Americana". :look:

I know the police are "handling" it, Secondcurve, but several residents expressed concern that some nut was on the loose and it would have been nice for law enforcement to let people know some details. Nothing was said about the whereabouts of suspects or if arrests had been made.
At least a neighbor was good enough to give some information to the press.
