Synthetic Boat Teak- Looks Great!

I just had Synthetic Teak installed on my boat and it is the best thing I have done on the boat. I did the Swim Platform and the Cockpit. No more wet carpet or dirty carpet or dirty swim platform.
This stuff is great looking and it does not stain.
It can even be powerwashed.

I heard that it looks great and wears great but it can get hot in the sun.

Have you noticed any issues with hot feet?

I compared both Nu Teak and PlasDeck.
I found PlasDeck much better looking, more durable and less expensive.
It can get a little hot when baking in the sun, but so does carpet.
I just hose it off (swimmers in and out of the boat will do the trick) and it is fine.

Raising the "deck" by adding faux teak seems to be a way to enhance the looks and eliminate the hazard/hassle. How slippery when wet is yours ? And, if I may, how many $$s was it to do your swim platform ?

It is not slippery at all, actually quite the opposite.
Every boat will be priced differently because it is based on the design or pattern you choose as well as how big of an area you do.
It is a per sqaure foot charge based on those factors.

It is not cheap but if you plan on keeping the boat for a while and you want less fiberglass to clean, this is the way to go.

I took a tour recently of the Battleship Missouri at Pearl Harbor. The tour guide pointed out the teak deck and mentioned that this material was used for decking as it was not slippery when wet.

I would really like to see the interior as I plan to rip the carpet out of my 23' Carlson and might be interested in someting like this.

I did not do the interior of my boat, just the swim platform and the cockpit area. My boat is one of the ones shown in the pictures on http://NorthEastmarineDecking.comlook at the photo gallery). It is the 390 Sea Ray Motor Yacht.

I believe the interior of boats is more complicated to do and uses a different material than what is used outside. It is probably more expensive as well.

I am sure that if you call them at NorthEast Marine Decking they can answer your questions better than I can.

Search on some of the boating forums, there is a bunch of discussions. You can buy precut kits for certain boats and do it yourself. Or even just buy material.

I love the look but my wife doesn't so don't have it, yet!

There seems to be a PlasDeck product (http://www.plasdeck.com) which is much like a thick sheet vinyl. The website (http://www.plasdeck.com/PlasDECK_FAQs.htm#How_thick_is_PlasDECK) states it's 1/4 " thick. There's also a PlasTeak product (http://plasteak.com/osc/index.php) which comes in various thickness resembling that of dimensional lumber. It seems more like a Trex kind of product except for their "Teak and Holly" flooring which looks to be another vinyl flooring but for interior use and thinner (1/8") than the PlasDeck stuff.

Is, that it has a wood-grained top finish that provides good traction when wet... Kind of "barefoot friendly" for the Lake! :)
