Description: When approaching Hedgehog Mt on the UNH Trail from the Kancamagus Highway, one finds much open ledge where views of peaks and valleys of the area are quite rewarding. Here is a view of Hedgehog itself, from the north, showing examples of the extensive ledge that is found both around the summit and on the trail into the peak, both of which provide grand views.

Description: Hedgehog Mt is a small peak, just a little taller than Mt Belknap, but it is strategically located in an intervale a couple of miles south of the Kancamagus Highway, where it is able to provide excellent views in all directions. This photo was taken from a low knob of the mountain called Allens Ledge. From the summit some of the more notable peaks (Washington, Carter Dome, etc) show up much better than they do here, where only small slivers of the tops are viewable.

Description: I took a picture of my office window after a bird flew into it. It made the most beautiful greasy spot I've ever seen. In the late afternoon the sun shone through it and it looked like a ghost bird. Lots of people came by to see it and take pictures, but it didn't last; the window washers wiped it away.

Description: This Bald Eagle saw near the top of a pine tree next to our house for several minutes today. It's not unusual for us to see Bald Eagles in this area, but this is the closest we've ever been to one. He was one magnificent bird! Here's a shot of him as he flew away.
