RG: I've enjoyed your boathouse series. This particular boathouse is associated with a beautiful old summer camp that is well-maintained and has an impressive and lengthy white picket fence that can be seen behind the boathouse. It's located on 28A.

On Winnipesaukee's ice, a really bumpy ride! The "DN" on the sail indicates this is the very popular (and former sponsor) "Detroit News class" of mostly older wooden iceboats. Modern iceboats are today trying to break the 200-KPH mark. That speed, converted to MPH is...er...umm...er...REALLY FAST! Smile

Although the skipper does appear to be dry, this Sunfish needs two adjustments: One is that the halyard is attached too low (setting the entire sail too high—and the boat too tippy). Second, the bronze fitting at the mast needs to be adjusted to raise the boom away from dragging in the water, leading to an upset. (Raising the boom to somewhat above level). I believe this skipper actually lives on Rattlesnake Island and was one I invited to join this forum. Smile

As simple as this boat is, a little "trim" on the sail would help this youngster avoid a capsize. The boom has just glanced off the water. Should the boom get a serious "dig" into the water, the sail would pry the hull (and skipper) over. The bronze fitting at the mast should be readjusted to raise the boom (to a few inches above "level"). The upper spar needs about three inches more "raise" by means of the halyard.
