Strawberry Bank?
Planning to go to Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth this week for a day trip.
Looking for recommendations for seafood restaurants along the way, not necessarily in Portsmouth.... Lobster in the rough maybe, also full service seafood restaurants. |

On the way would be Newick's in Dover Point. Always a solid choice for fried seafood and lobsters.
A little south but I always like Brown's in Seabrook. The Oar House is a little more upscale and has been there forever. This place in downtown Portsmouth was on some tv show for best sandwich with their crab grilled cheese. Never been myself but it looked damn good. http://www.jumpinjays.com/ |

Seafood
Depends on what kind of seafood you are looking for.
For gourmet seafood, you can't beat Jumpin' Jays' on Congress St. Another gourmet favorite is the Surf Restaurant on Bow St. Great view of the river! For more conventional seafood try the River House on Bow St. Also view the river. And there is Row 34 on Port Walk Place. A local favorite for decades is The Dolphin Striker on Bow Street. The above are within walking distance of Market Square. Should you want to do a little travel, BG Boathouse on Wentworth Road has great food, casual atmosphere and a nice waterfront view. And of course the all time favorite Sanders Fish Market on Marcy Street. Let me know what you do and what you think of the place. Portsmouth have lots to offer!

Bob's Clam Hut
Ditto on Jumpin' Jay's.
Also, just had magnificent fried clams at Bob's Clam Hut, next door to Kittery Trading Post on Rt 1 in Kittery, just a couple of minutes off 95. Super fresh, perfectly medium sized, nice light batter. Counter service and picnic table atmosphere. |
