Default Naked Kayakers

Several years ago, a friend hit a kayaker at night as he was leaving Sally's Gut. It was a couple who were kayaking naked, much to my friends surprise.
Needless to say, the kayaker was a bit reluctant to get in the boat.

All kinds out there !!

Default Has it ever happened on Winni?

I see big snappers on the lake - last week while docking my jetski at the back docks in Wolfboro, a big one swam under me. Scariest looking things - but I keep telling myself - I've never heard a story of one hurting a person. Sure I've seen people taunt them on a road and they can break a big stick - but never hurting someone on the lake. I don't really want to ask.... but, have you ever heard a story of a snapper biting someone on Winny?

I've seen them all over the place. Its always been a they see me and swim away case however. Pretty sure they don't want to be bothered and would leave you alone unless provoked.

Use to catch them as a kid and man do those jaws have strength

Not Winni, but it happened in NH...

When I was a teen, I was floating down the Lamprey River in a fishing tube with my legs and bare feet dangling in the water below/out in front of me (I was just laying back and relaxing, not fishing).

The tube was kind of like this:

I suddenly felt rather intense pain on my right big toe and freaked out. A big turtle had bit my toe and my freaking out scared it off; I watched it swim down and away rapidly. A friend of mine was in a boat nearby and I was nearly on-plane getting to the boat. My friend did not believe me until I climbed aboard and showed him the deep cuts all the way around my toe. IT was a long time before I got back in the water...

A little off topic but since it was brought up... My labs discovered something in the driveway that was on his way to murder us. Just like the UPS driver, mail carrier, girl scouts, and other potential assailants.

Smile Turtles

Dave, your toe must have looked like a tasty morsel to the turtle! What a crazy experience!

Pineedles, that's pretty cool!

That's great! What a fun diversion for the labs; not so much for the turtle. Well, you're all safe for another day!

After living on the Lamprey for a number of years I would not have been in a tube like that for anything....
