Major Pattern Change... Finally!

After a disastrous June/July and a so/so August, it now appears we are entering a brand new pattern for the month of September. That pesky polar jet stream which has plagued us all summer is finally showing signs of weakening and retreating back into Canada whence it came. While the southern US turns cooler and unsettled over the next few weeks, the north will become mild and dry as high pressure crests overhead.

So not to jinx it, but I think this is setting up to be one of the nicest Septembers in recent memory. I think rainfall will become a rare commodity over the next few weeks and believe it or not we may turn excessively dry by the middle of the month. Lake heights are still relatively high now but it would not surprise me to eventually fall to something like 2007 levels by the end of the month.

Bottom line- if you were debating on taking a few days off over the next few weeks to head up to the lake, don't hesitate.

I wish I could add to the Thank You's. But for those of us who have kids starting school and Fall sports starting up, it's almost like salt in a wound.

Being retired does have some good benefits to it. We went through the kids and after school activities and now free to come and go and we go an awful lot.

Two years ago when our daughter went off to college we were able to enjoy September and early October at the lake. Fall sports start around the middle of August so that meant vacations had to be done by then so we could be home. On top of the great weather the pace is slower with fewer people around and being at the lake is much more enjoyable. The only trouble this year is that we have some stuff happening on weekends and won't be able to be at the lake as much as we'd like. I was just thinking today that there's only six weeks left before we close up and put the boat up for the winter. Darn!

has become the new July

!.....and July

was metamorphamized into April

, or something, except last Aprl had a couple of 90-degree days.....a little difficult to figure?

Sure seems like the trees are just growing and growing.
