Default ...Subway eliminated

With something like seven Subway stores locally; in Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough, New Hampton, Plymouth, plus inside the Gilford Walmart, and Plymouth Walmart; that adds uo to seven different Subway fast-food restaurants.

It is with deep regret after being a Subway regular for about three years, that I recently noticed that Subway no longer does their sub-of-the-month, monthly sub specials. Their monthly specials would typically have been something like a meatball marinara-6" sub for 3-dollars, or an italian cold cut-12" for 5-dollars...well, you can kiss these sub specials goodbye because as of January, 2015....the Subway monthly specials have been eliminated....and now, these least expensive sub available is a 6" sub for 4-dollars....or a 12" sub for 6-dollars...not exactly low-priced...so it is time to say GOODBYE to Subway!

So's....it's time to fuhgetabout Subway....and go look for some other fast food restaurant!

Default Registration

The staff advised me that beginning March 1st, all cards that you use to get a future sub for free, now have to be registered, on line with your name, DOB, email addy, etc. so they can track what you are eating.

Wonder whose data base this will end up in?

I think you should go on a hunger strike. That'll show them how sincere you are in your displeasure.

Subway: the epitome of Americans settling for mediocrity.

Points given for the "tie-this-post-to-the-lakes-region!"

I agree with the person above; I've never given Subway that much thought.

Good luck with that - and you think this is bad? LOL! If the minimum wage is bumped to 15 dollars an hour (as some are demanding, and at least some of a certain political persuasion are dying to do) that 6 dollar sub will become a 20 dollar sub. The dollar menu at McD's will be the 10 dollar menu.

Unfortunately we can't depend on the sweat shops in China to provide cheap subs like they do all the junk on the shelves of Walmart.

It was actually a flour bleaching agent (azodicarbonamide) that is also found in plastics. Subway removed that ingredient from their bread last February even though it is widely used and considered safe by the USDA.

Quote:
According to a 1999 World Health Organization evaluation of studies on the effects of azodicarbonamide, there was a negligible impact from the chemical in animal test subjects, except in massive doses. All information regarding human testing was inconclusive. The ingredient is widely used throughout the food industry, including by Starbucks, McDonald’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts, and many other chains.

Azodicarbonamide is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which classifies it as “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) when used as a dough conditioner or bleaching agent in flour.
There may be good reasons not to eat at Subway but "They put plastic in their bread" is not accurate information.

Default Shaw's Salad Bar

Ever since I found this gem, I always make myself a salad for lunch/dinner rather than the 'dirty' stuff found at fast foods. There is a picnic table right outside the door used by the staff that makes a nice spot to eat.

You may want to check this out FLL. Your body will thank you for this!

Default Anyone like this idea?

FLL needs our help...so, I think a http://www.gofundme.com/ should be set-up so he can still enjoy eating the meatball marinara-6" or the italian cold cut-12" sub's.
What say you all?

Default hehehe

When I was very young, in Boston in the 50's, An elevated train ran right by our apartment window. When I read the title of this post title I was a little confused. I was like, eliminated? I didn't even know we HAD a subway in this area.... Sorry for straying from the topic, but it gave me a belly laugh

Good thing the salad bar has a "sneeze guard". With all of that food exposed all day you never know what might be in there!

Default .... nice attitude!

Out of all seven Subways in the area, the two best ones are in Moultonborough on Route 25, and in Plymouth on Main St thanks to their scenic locations and mostly due to the good attitudes of the sub-makers behind the counter.

And which one is the worst......it's the new location in Meredith....due to their crappy attitudes.

I don't have a good response for your comment so I'll just post a Blueberry Buttermilk Pancake Recipe:

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup fresh or thawed frozen blueberries
2 cups buttermilk (well shaken before measuring)
2 large eggs
Grated zest of 1 lemon
Vegetable oil, for cooking
Unsalted butter and pure maple syrup, for serving

Directions

1.Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and sugar in a large bowl until thoroughly combined. Toss blueberries with 2 tablespoons flour mixture in a medium bowl and set aside. Make a well in the center of remaining flour mixture and add buttermilk, eggs, and lemon zest. Whisk together, gradually incorporating flour mixture, mixing just until combined; some small lumps should remain in the batter. Fold in blueberries. Let batter stand 10 minutes.

2.Preheat a double-burner griddle or a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Brush griddle with oil and ladle pi cup batter per pancake onto griddle. When small bubbles appear across surface of pancakes and the edges lift from griddle, flip and continue cooking until pancakes are golden brown on the second side and are springy to the touch, about 3 minutes total. Serve with butter and maple syrup; then continue with the rest of the batter.

Wow,$1 makes a sandwich go from a bargain to "not exactly low priced".
