Smile Inclement weather

I'll go out on a limb here, as I work in a school district, and the absolute pandemonium from media hype has reached the frenzy level today, but I bet this one is not as bad as '78 for those of us who lived it!
I am from Mass and although I love to call W.Alton home again, I know that the Granite Stater's have a far greater respect for what mother nature can do, and how to properly drive in it. Today would be a good day for the snowflakes.
To all be safe, and plan conservatively!

Default Two sentences that say the difference between two states:

In Massachusetts, Gov. Charlie Baker also declared a state of emergency, along with a travel ban beginning at midnight.

In New Hampshire Gov. Hassan did not declare a travel ban, but she urged people to use common sense and avoid traveling if possible.

Down on the seacoast area we will see 18-24 inches. As long as the power stays on, I don't care. fortunately it will be light and fluffy. The winds will be the main issue here.

Default Weak weather models?

How did this one sneak in so fast? Last Saturday night (Jan24), the national weather team was looking at several possibilities of precipitation, but nothing major. By Sunday morning, the storm of the century is on the doorstep. There is a masters degree in weatherology for the one that can figure out why the models missed the early warning and when they righted themselves.

As of now, they are calling the bulls-eye of this storm to stay south of the Lakes Region, but there could easily be a fresh light foot by Wednesday morning. Powda day? In 48 hours, we'll know which predictions were best.

Ummm, actually the state of emergency / travel ban is down here in MA...

I will say, I've done my fair share of driving in nasty winter weather in the last 30 or so years and I think it's the right call for us down here given the forecast. It's not that we're wimps or lack ability (I love driving in the snow when I have the road to myself) but it's gotten to the point down here that there are so many of us trying to go the same place at the same time on the same roads that it ends up in total gridlock and the crews can't clear the roads.

Hope everyone stays safe, enjoy the snow and please be sure to check on your neighbors.

It allows the state and towns to enforce certain regulations like on street parking and other areas dealing with the event. It also allows towns to apply to funding related to the event in some cases.
