Thumbs up Raspberries

The berries are near peak at Smith's in Gilford. Today was a perfect day for PYO and with an ample crop of plump berries we were surprised that there were very few customers. They were also picking blueberries which we did not look at.

The raspberry jam supply will get replenished and later today there will be a batch of homemade raspberry ice cream which will not last long.

Default last week!

Picked strawberries and raspberries last week. Raspberry bars and strawberry rhubarb pies are a favorite with the daughters and grandchildren. We even had strawberry pancakes!

Love rasberries. Would love to take our 2 year old rasberry picking but she would NOT be impressed when she found out the berries need to go into a container and not her stomach.

Everything seems to be about 2 weeks early this year. Our raspberries are doing good as are our high bush blueberry bushes. My neighbors' commercial pyo blueberry op is opening this weekend.

Ridgerunner Farm in New Durham's gonna have berry's for the next couple weeks still. Head south (actually east, but that's another story) on Rte. 11, bang a right after Johnson's dairy hut and fried clam emporium. Drive up steep hill. Enjoy views of Mts Chocorua and Mashington and nab some berry's.

Yes we have one of those ice cream machines, works great especially with fresh picked strawberries, blueberries or raspberries. There is just one more serving left, got to go!
