Default Islands of Winnipesaukee

“The Islands of Winnipesaukee” Featuring Ron Guilmette

(Weirs, NH – Wednesday, July 23rd, 7 p.m.)
Lake Winnipesaukee Museum is hosting a presentation, “The Islands of Winnipesaukee”, Featuring Ron Guilmette

Join author and photographer, Ron Guilmette with his newly released book, “The Islands of Winnipesaukee”. Listen to the paddling adventures of Jay and Ron as they paddled to all of the Islands of Winnipesaukee.

The “Islands of Winnipesaukee” is a 11 x 9.5” coffee table book with color photos of all 260 islands on Lake Winnipesaukee. Ron and Jay may have been able to solve the long unanswered question of “How many islands are there on Lake Winnipesaukee?” The book also contains many interesting stories about the island and “Fun Facts” about the lake and islands. It makes a great gift and is a must for every coffee table at the lake.

Ron is a retired state trooper and works as a criminology professor at a local university and at a private college. He also works as a private consultant in the law enforcement community and serves as a volunteer on a number of boards and committees. He enjoys white water rafting and golf and most of all beach days with his children and grandchildren.

This event is free for Lake Winnipesaukee Historical Society members, for non members there is a $5 fee with all proceeds going to benefit the Historical Society’s ongoing renovations. We are located on Route 3 in Weirs Beach, next to Funspot. Please RSVP to 366-5950.

We bought the book last week and love it. Even if you've been a full timer at the lake for many years, this book is worth owning!

Ron was at this evenings meeting of the Gilford Islands Association; he gave a nice talk about the adventure of kayaking to all 260 islands. Well his count was 260 and he got Bizer to up their count from 253 to 258.
http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...t=list+islands

There were lots of questions and Ron appeared to know, from memory, the location of every island on the lake.

We came home with a copy of the book which will make it over to Welch tomorrow.

Ron said that another 1,000 copies are being printed and yes Innisfree bookstore but I don't know if they are in yet. Best to call.

He initially had trouble finding a publisher and then had to agree to buy all of the first printing of 300 himself. We have a numbered signed copy from that 300.

It's a great book with photos of all 260 islands, his count. Gives one a whole new perspective of the lake.

I picked up a copy today. They were down to their display copy but when I asked if there were more the lady replenished the pile. Can't wait to read it!

....and immediately following NH Chronicle was Boston Chronicle (Ch. 5) where they did a "Fall Getaways" segment the first of which featured Meredith and had some nice footage of the Lakehouse and Moulton Farm.
