Default Football Food and Drinks.

Now that we know who is in the Supper Bowl, we at Tavern 27 must create the menu for the Catered Super Bowl party that we donated to the WLNH Children's Auction. We need food and drink pairings for an 8 course plus dessert Tapas flow.

We are trying to created the menu around the 2011 Patriots schedule. We will take the schedule in increments of 2 back to back games and have a food item that associates with one team and a drink associated with the other team.

This post is to ask our good forum friends to assist us with paring Ideas.

1st pairing - Dolphins & Chargers
2nd pairing - Bills & Raiders
3rd pairing - Jets & Cowboys
4th pairing - Steelers & Giants
5th pairing - Jets & Chiefs
6th pairing - Eagles & Colts
7th pairing - Redskins & Broncos
8th pairing - Dolphins & Bills

Suggest one pairing or suggest them all. Money is no object (well almost). I can't wait to see some of the suggestions

I can't offer pairings, but these random thoughts might help:

Buffalo wings are obvious, Mahi-Mahi is also known as Dolphin (the fish, not the mammal) in some parts of the world, and Coors light is nicknamed "Silver Bullet" so it could be loosely linked to the Raiders.

The term "Redskins" is pretty racist, so I'd skip any linkage to native American food there and use potato skins or red velvet cake. With Chiefs, you could go with Indian pudding or KC style BBQ.

Trying to think of a food that corresponds to broken promises and huge disappointments to go with the Jets, but I all I can come up with is a empty pastry shell.

Long neck clams would be great reference to the Colts. Too bad there's no giant forehead clams. For the Eagles, you could come up with a recipe made from awesome ingredients that don't go well together.

That's all I got. Post your question on www.patsfans.com and I bet you'd get a ton of great responses.
