Default What kind of bird or duck is this?

Saw this fowl on the side of the road hanging out alone...Wondering if This is a pet or wild... Seemed relaxed when I took the picture

I would say domestic, not wild.

It might be a young muscovy duck. If it is, it is considered a domestic duck.

Muscovy ducks develop an irregular "growth" below the eyes and above the bill. It looks like this to some extent in the photo. In addition, you said he did not mind you being near, pointing to a domestic duck. I am fairly sure it is in some level of distress if it is a muscovy. They originated in central America when in the wild.

It kind of looks like that...and further review looks like they eat bugs and mosquitos...I'm wondering if it wandered away from a farm house...guess I'll drive by tomorrow and see if he made the night
