Waterville Valley Youth Ice Hockey Tourney

Does anyone have any experience with the youth ice hockey tournaments in Waterville Valley?

I am the manager of my sons Mite team on Long Island, NY and we are considering entering the Deep Freeze Tournament over MLK weekend.

What Hotel/Lodge would provide the best accomidations for a 14 player team and their families?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Joey, this is an great experience for a youth hockey tournament! Have had tournaments there for the past three years and we have enjoyed every one. The hotels are within walking distance to the rink, the rink itself is charming (lacks a snack bar but the shops are right there) and is a great experience for both the kids and parents. You get there, park and enjoy your weekend. No frantically rushing to various rinks 45 mins away that you can't find.

We usually stay at the snowy owl. Price is right but you get what you pay for. they do have a pool. Make sure you book early, they will hold a block and then the parents have to call in.

If you can get the parents to go in for the video, they livestream it too and all the grandparents back home can watch the game. A couple of our parents couldn't get out of work and thought it was great they could watch.

www.blackbearlodgenh.com with 107 different hotel suites that each include a full kitchen and sleeping for up to six, (four is a more realistic number), is the HOCKEY HOTEL in Waterville Valley. Located about a 250-yard walk from the ice rink, it is used by different Canadian hockey teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, New Found Land, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, and Quebec all throughout the summer.

Most groups load up on groceries at Hannaford's in Plymouth, 23-miles away, at Rt 93-Exit 26, on the way to Exit 28-Waterville Valley, and then cook-it-themself in their Black Bear suite kitchen which has a full stove, refrigerator, big sink, dishwasher and microwave and countertops.....silverware, dishes, glasses, pots, pans, toaster....a regular full kitchen in every suite ..... and not an abbreviated teeny-weeny hotel kitchen.

Buy it at Hannaford's-Plymouth......eat it in Waterville Valley...... which is twenty three miles further north, and avoid paying four dollars for a half gallon of milk at the Waterville local food store in town square ......Jugtown.

Plus, the Black Bear has an indoor-outdoor swim pool and a large outdoor hottub.

Unlike the Black Bear ...... the nearby Snowy Owl has no kitchens, what-so-ever, in its' small, cramped, dorm style rooms that sleep four and has a restaurant in the Snowy Owl basement. If you want a hotel suite with a real kitchen then you want the Black Bear!

Hi - I have been twice for girls hockey tournaments. Once you arrive you park and walk. It is fantastic. We stayed at the Golden Eagle. Easy walk and you can also get family sized rooms in case you want to house several players.

I was told to add to my comments by the player.

1. The locker rooms are good sized. Especially for mites.

2. The ice is great hockey ice.
