Default Magic pixie dust that keeps away ticks and mosquitos

My wife heard that JP pest sprays your yard with some organic/essential oil substance and it keeps away all of the ticks and mosquitoes. I think its malarky but I finally relented and told her to go ahead and have the yard sprayed. Unfortunately JP Pest said there was so much demand that they aren't taking any more clients.

Anyone know of other places that do this? Thanks!

I have not used them, but this company has the types of service you are looking for. If you use one, I'd be curious to know if it works.

Default Eco Smart Spray

I got this at Lowes. Ecosmart spray organic, safe for pets and kids.
Smells like peppermint and Rosemary, but seems to work.
The dogs haven't had any ticks since I used it.
But it doesn't last after a heavy rain, and you have to do it again to get rid of the mosquitoes.

I had a contract at my home in Massachusetts in the past and it is amazing what once a week spraying can do to control the insects. Give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I was told by a JP Pest employee that what they use to spray for ticks and mosquitoes is a combination of the following essential oils mixed with water.

• Peppermint Oil

• Rosemary Oil

• Clove Oil

The exact amount of how much oil should be mixed with how much water to create this magic elixir I forget unfortunately. But that is something I am assuming you could easily find out by doing some "googling".

And apparently there is some science behind the use of essential oils to kill and or repel insects.

• Peppermint oil and clove oil are deadly to insects, especially fleas and ticks. Peppermint oil is one of the most toxic octopamine blockers found in nature. Octopamine is a key neurotransmitter that is found in invertebrates-it is an insect's equivalent to adrenaline. It regulates the heart rate, movement, behavior, and metabolism of these critters. Peppermint oil blocks the production of octopamine, causing the insect's central nervous system to break down.

Anyways after you have mixed your essential oils with your water you will then proceed to fog or spray the entire tree line of your property. (Your tree line is where your lawn meets your forest.)

I was told if you do this you will see a 90% reduction of ticks in your yard and it will also help to repel the mosquitoes as well. Now if your not into mixing your own insect repellent in the name of saving a few bucks you can purchase some already premixed online or at your local Petco.

And
Yes - the key is regular spraying.

Default The turkeys . . .

I'm sure, appreciate the extra flavah.

Burning sage when you're sitting outside helps keep the mosquito's away.

From the link you provided:

Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Peppermint Oil...0.60%(3/4oz), Eugenol (Clove Extract) ...1.40%(1.8oz), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate ...3.45%(4.4oz), Inert Ingredients* ...94.55%(121oz), *Water, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid. These are inert so I would think you could use just water.

Now all you need is a little math on how much in ounces those percentages is in relation to a gallon.
Ok - Ok I did the math for you.
