Does Moultonborough have electricity?
Does anyone know if there is power restored in Moultonborough? I have frozen food in the freezer and am wondering what to do. Thanks. I am near to Redding Lane.

At 10:30 PM the NHEC outage map is showing all of Moultonborough without power. About an hour ago only a small percentage of the town was out. I called my house which is close to you and the answering machine picked up which tells me the power was on. (it was out earlier) Now the machine is not picking up, they may have had to shut down a larger grid to repair a section.

Mentioned this on the Irene thread, but am amazed that where I was in Wolfeboro, we had power during almost the entire storm. Only a few brief outages.
Lots of pine branches all over the place and several trees uprooted...but the power stayed on. Miracle. (grateful) My Jersey shore home lost power since Saturday night and not sure if it's back yet. House is okay (5 blocks from beach) and boat is okay too. (beyond grateful for that news). Hope everyone did okay here in the lakes region. I saw a HUGE pine that went down across Waumbeck Rd. in Wolfeboro yesterday. If it had fallen on a house or car... Today is especially beautiful up here don't you think? |

For example, if the power goes out for, say, 24 hours, but then comes back on - you may return a week later to a freezer full of food that had been completely defrosted and then refrozen, but you will have no idea and then you cook and eat the food and get very sick. **Dump a tray of ice cubes into a freezer baggie and keep it in your freezer; that way, if you return and the baggie is one solid block of ice - you know that it melted & refroze and therefore you should throw away the contents of the freezer. (if it's still ice cubes, you know they have never melted down...) |

Power to the People
Went out to East Bear Island yesterday [Tuesday] to check on our cottage. Power was our from 9:00 AM Sunday to 4:15 PM Tuesday. Lost a 30' long, 9" diameter limb from a large white pine located near the shore. Its top pierce two porch screens. Otherwise all seems okay [checked the cottages of neighbors as well].
