Default Porcupines

Any islanders out there experienced any porcupines ? Our dog just treed one...and I'm trying to figure out how it got out here.

Your dog sounds like a risk taker, I would seriously discourage that behavior.

We have used two approaches having had porcupines gnawing at the bottom of our sliding doors after painting, this back at home. Chewed away the wood trim down to bottom of the glass.

1. Live trap using salted apple slices for bait then transport and release.

2. If that fails, flashlight, the .22 and a shovel.

6 Porcupine chops
3 Fingers coltsfoot salt
1 qt Maple sap
2 sm Wild onions
4 Wild leeks
