Exclamation Moultonboro Trail Conditions 01/11/08

Moultonboro Trail Conditions posted today on our website www.moultonborosmc.com

Please check our website for Trail up-dates as the weather changes going in to the coming week.

January 11, 2008

Moultonborough trails are in fair shape at best with many water bars and bare ground. Trails should not be used. We need to protect whatever base is left until it turns colder and we get more snow. Be smart and safe.

The LAKE is not frozen yet and any areas that are will be extremely DANGEROUS!

Current Moultonborough Conditions and Announcements

DO NOT ASSUME THE LAKES ARE SAFE. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN RIDING ANY BODY OF WATER!

January 11, 2008

Please respect the landowner and remain on the trail.

CAUTION. There are many water bars and bare ground on the trails. Trails should not be used. We need to protect whatever base is left until it turns colder and snows. Be smart and safe.

Moultonboro Neck Trail Section Closure: The section that has partially closed is Moultonboro Neck (Kona Trail, Far Echo Trail). The Far Echo Trail is not affected. The Kona trail is open from Morril Rd (at Kona Farm Rd.) down to the Kona forest connecting to the Far Echo Trail. The Swallow Point Trail is across from the end of Morril Rd. crossing Kona Farm Rd and coming out on to the Neck Rd. just below the Wood Working Shop that would now connect to the Power Line Trail.

Legend
Closed Trail is closed.
Fair Trail is open, may not be groomed, may contain some areas without snow.
Open Trail is open, may or may not be groomed.
Good Trail is open and groomed.

Note: Our trails are all on private land. We must take care and ride with this in mind. The most important thing is to stay on the marked trail. That is the only area the land owner has given permission for snowmobiles to ride. Each season, complaint calls are made to the trail master and officers of the club from landowners because riders go off the trails. These few riders are the ones that make things bad for all. We are “guests” on these trails. All riders must obey the posted speed limits. The speeds on plowed roads and all of thee trail connectors have 10 MPH limits. In these areas, we are close to homes and cars moving along that may not always see us. Some areas are posted even slower. We must not exceed these limits. The landowners demand it. When out on the open trails, the limits are 45 mph when safe and conditions allow.

We snowmobilers appreciate you taking the time to post this info. We realize most of the clubs work is volunteers that are asked over and over again to pitch in with trail repairs and club events. We appreciate all you do!!

WINNOCTURN..thanks for the trail update, now it's time for us snowmobilers to heed the advice and STAY OFF THE TRAILS. Let's not let our desire to get out there even when the conditions are poor ruin the trails for everyone in the future. Thanks to all the trail volunteers for their efforts in keeping our trails in the best shape possible!

To add, please stay on the trails! I know it's fun to blast through untouched snow, but do it on the lake and not on the private property that is so generously given to us to use.

Same thing goes for the Wakefield/Effingham area (Seven Lakes SC). There have been a few out on the trails and all they are doing is destroying them. We are getting into some colder wx and snow is forecast for Monday so lets hope we get some riding in soon.

Default Not really that much Snow so far

We may have 4 to 5 inches of snow here in the Kona area. This is not even enough to groom from a technical stand point. May be there will be more as the day goes by. The morning forecast had called for an additional 3-5 inches overnight into early morning.

As for our request to not use the Trails, I have seen tracks along Moultonboro Neck Rd and also coming up from Karnataka. There were 4 sled stopped at Fullers oops Robs this afternoon.

Most likely if the conditions are right there will be some grooming done on Red Hill and Corridor 15.

Exclamation Castle Trail From Moultonboro

Taken from SledNH.com
Lakes Region Forum
Posted yesterday by ckf

Corridor 15 closed from Ossipee to Castle Parking Lot

The Bureau of Trails was up there yesterday to check the trails and do some maintenance. On the lower trails coming up from Moultonboro they found lots of water in the trail. When they got to they steep hills they were a sheet of ice. Let’s hope the new snow will allow the trail to open back up by the weekend.

Please check www.SledNH.com or www.slednh.com/forums/index.php?act=idx for further up-dates.
