Our Town Energy Alliance - Time to renew
Our Town Energy Alliance just sent out the renewals for next year’s heating season. Along with it was a solicitation for new members, with hopes to bring down prices even more by having more leverage.
The deal is; you pay $25/year for a membership, then they negotiate a fuel price for oil or propane for your next year’s heating season. They are negotiating for millions of gallons, so get good prices. You have the choice of pre-buy or “rack plus”. Here are their prices for this season, for those who joined last year. 2010-11 Current Season Price Comparison ** Our Oil-re-buy range (Avg.6 dealers) $2.519 to $2.795/gallon, avg $2.642/gallon ----- Today's Market Price = $3.249/gallon ** Our Propane Prices (Avg 3 dealers) 800 gallon tier price for propane $2.31/gal, 151 gallon tier $2.71/gallon ----- Today's Market Price 800 gallons $3.64/gallon 151 gallons - $4.61/gallon I’ve been a member for four years. One year, prices fell during the year and I did not make out well, but the savings in the other three years more than made up for it, including the cost of membership. Its sort of a no-brainer if you are spending more than a few hundred on heating costs. The link for more information is at http://www.otchoice.com/
