Default Where for repair ?

I know everyone has their preference, but I would like to know a repair shop that does Outstanding, Quality work on Skidoo snowmobiles. I would like to get referrals from some of you "Long Time Sledders" who've taken their Sleds to their particular shops over the years, and have had nothing but excellent results. I am 2 years New into sledding, and have taken my 3 sleds into a couple of places. Each have done both Good & Less than good, repairs. I hope, from some of you, I can find a repair shop that will perform great Maintenance & Repair Service, and earn my trust, to be able to take it there year after year. I live in Wolfeboro.

The best advice I can give you, get a service manual and learn to do your own work. These machines are not that complicated.

If you simply have no desire to do that I would suggest hitting up the NH forum on HardcoreSledder.com if you want to rub virtual elbows with guys that are really into this stuff no better place to get that kind of information.

Along came the Electronics. Till then WORKING on SLEDS was like working on your 55 Chevy. It was so easy. As a mater of fact there was enough room under the HOOD you could "LIVE" in it. Today it is like putting 10lb of poop in a 5lb Bag.


After taking several Polaris Sleds to "Local" Dealers for repairs and having them come back in worse shape than when they went in, I decided to try it my self. As you recommended I did go out and get the Polaris Manuals, some aftermarket manuals, a Makuni Carb manual and some specialty tools. You name it and I could fix it back in the DAY!

Yamaha was the worst engine compartment to work on back then. Every bit of space was crammed tight. I once helped a friend try to put a Manual Fuel shutoff on his Yamaha, it did not come with one from the factory. It took over an hour on loosening and taking several things out of the way before we could get to the Fuel Line to splice in the Valve and then another hour putting everything back in place.

Try SLedNH.com for some recommendation of Sled Repair also.

WINNOCTURN- You are right on. The machines today are too tight, and need all sort of specialty tools, to do the job correctly. I have no problem getting my hands dirty on most things mechanical, as I've worked 22 yrs. in Fiber Optics, as a chemical equipment technician. Some things on these sleds are just too alien for me. I was just hoping to get some suggestions of who does the best quality work, in the area, from the the Long time sledders on this post. I am new to sledding, so I have not been exposed to the many years of mechanical issues dealing with these things, so I simply want to pay an experienced shop to perform the work for me.

I have two Ski Doo's and have had excellent service from HK Laconia. Probably not what your looking for but just thought I would chime in.

This guys name is Matt, works out of his garage in Henniker, NH.
He has worked on both of my Skidoos this year, very good prices, much less than the dealer, and the dealers are usually a week or two booked out.

Get your pre-season sled service done now before the snow flies. . .at that time, everyone will be doing the same and the crunch will be on. . .as will the wait!
** Specializing in Arctic Cat and Ski Doo XP sleds, but will do all brands **
Pre-season service, including at a minimum ALL of the following is $125:
• Lubrication:
o All zerk fittings greased in rear skid
o Removal of driven clutch and Zerk fitting for speedometer cable and jack shaft (when equipped with fitting)
o Zerk fittings associated with steering linkage
o Zerk fittings at ski spindles
o Spray grease applied at all ball joints on steering linkage (under hood and external at trailing arms)
• Drive belt: condition checked and tension checked/adjusted if necessary
• Sheaves of drive and driven clutch cleaned
• Track tension and alignment checked and adjusted as necessary
• Condition of all bearings in rear skid checked and will advised on (no work done without consent)
• Chain case oil drained and replaced and chain tension checked/adjusted as needed (in most cases if accessible, cover removed and chain/gear condition inspected)
• Spark plug replacement
• Compression testing (if requested)
• Oil pump adjusted (if accessible, with carb clean pretty much always accessible)
Typical parts costs for standard pre-season service:
• Synthetic chain case lube: $13
• Spark plugs $2.50/each for NGKBR9ES
• Fuel if necc. (current costs apply)
Extras if requested:
• MOST CARBS are $25/carb to remove and clean
• Exhaust valve removal and cleaning is $25/pair or $35 if a triple
• Track removal and replacement $150 (in process will replace any and all bearings if not pressed on. . .no additional charge)
• Removal of rear skid: replacement of all bearings/seals and hyfax $100 labor

I agree it is far. I keep my sleds in Laconia. But like I said when Hk or Dasilva tells me it's going to be a week or two to even look at my sleds it's worth the drive to get my sleds fixed in a couple days for half the labor.
