Default Weirdest fish I ever caught

This is the weirdest fish I ever caught; it appears that somebody put a rubber band or a hair clasp around this rainbow? Or is it a tag of some sort? no wonder the fish population is down.

Diffently NOT A TAG of any kind, and obviously it has been on the fish for awhile. It kinda looks like a kids bracelet that was in the lake. Did you keep it or cut the ring off and release it?

Angry Looks Like

This looks like a hair elastic. Whoever did this should be slapped - let me at em! This poor fish must have suffered greatly. I know it is just a fish, but it's our fish!

I agree RG.... I fear there will be nothing left when your done for me to get lick in though....

I suppose possibly in a one in a trillion shot somehow this poor fish wonder into the elastic when some innocent little kid dropped it in the lake.... But I doubt it...I see this as something that was intentionally done.

Smith Point, I would suggest you send the photographs over to Fish and Game. There isn't much they will be able to do about it I know. However the knowledge of such events is important for them to know about.

More likely that the fish did it on its own rather than someone catching it and then putting the bracelet on and releasing.....but who knows.

It's like the fish below. It was probably nosing around the bottom and ran into the opening when it was a wee bit smaller. The ring got stuck and the fish grew around the ring as it got older.

I think the fish nosed into the thing. Exactly he reason to cut all the loops on those plastice soft drik holders so the birds won't get into them at landfills etc.

I know several of you think the fish did this all by himself but I am just having a hard time with that. That bracelet or hair tie would have fallen to the bottom, and sat flat. the fished would have had to nose it up... start swimming into it... It would have had to get caught on something and so that the fish could force its way into into enough so that it didn't fall off. I am not saying it couldn't happen I just think the odds in this case are against it. Unless it can be shown that the bracelet or hair tie doesn't fully sink, or will sit on the bottom such that a fish could swim through it.

I six pack can holder is a different story they have some buoyancy and don't complete sink, and move around and can get kicked up off the bottom very easily especially by a school of fish.
