Crownline 270 BR

have an opportunity to buy a Crownline 270 BR with the V8 engine. If anyone has experience with Crownlines in general or if they have the 270. I would appreciate any and all comments. this would be a big jump up in size for me as I currently have a 20ft BR.

Crownline is a good brand, friends had a 270br and loved it. With 23 degrees of deadrise it makes it very comfortable in the rough. But with any used boat try it out and have her checked before you buy. JMHO

Sure hope it's a big block V8. I'd think it would be a slug with a small block. It's big, heavy, and has a very deep-V and seats a huge crowd. Combine that with a small block and it's likely a recipe for slow holeshot. I could be wrong though, be sure to test drive it with a big load, if at all possible.

...Tho I agree the big block is a "smarter" choice for that particular Crownline...The Bravo 3 lower unit is the smart choice either way...The Bravo 3 is the great "equalizer"...especially in a small block powered boat...The 270 is a great boat...nice choice...Bravo 3 & a small block is not a bad thing in a 270...

I second Dave's thoughts, a big block V8 is needed for this size boat and definitely test with a group of people!

I like the Crownlines, best of luck.

On our second Crownline. Overall we have been very happy with the. Above average quality fit and finnish, the hull and all the interior fit are excellent and have held up very well. I would suggest a big block as well in a 27' boat as they being well built are generally a heavy boat.

Take it for a test drive and see what you think. I think you will be pleased. I used to test drive them for Channel Marine.

Had my Crown for 7 years, had zero problems with it. Really good boat, the motor is probably a Merc 454, great dependable motor.

Our first boat was a 21' SeaRay Bowrider. We went from that to a 27' Crownline bowrider and it was the best thing we did. Its been a great boat. For a boat that size and quality the price is very reasonable. I was skeptical about the 300hp smallblock at first but it has performed very well even with 9 or 10 people on board. Its the best boat for the money on the lake.

...I am intimately familiar with all of Crownline's products and the 270 is my "personal" favorite... Crownline makes a great boat..Construction, fit & finish, performance, etc...are tops for an "assembly line" boat...With regards to power...bigger is ALWAYS better...BUT...the Merc Bravo 3 is the great "equalizer"...A 270 with a small block & a Bravo 3 outdrive is a great choice...If it's a big block with a Bravo 3 outdrive you have hit the jackpot...Good luck with your search...Billy @ Channel Marine probably has a couple or three to look at...

We love our Crownline and it's been trouble free since we bought it in 2006. FYI Channel is no longer a CL dealer, Winnisquam Marina is the new area dealer. Also Crownline has new owners after a reorganisation last year and they have modified some warranty terms.

I will also echo others and say it would be a better power package with a bigger engine. I sometimes miss the big block of my last boat of similar size but the 350 Mag with the Bravo III is great. Good luck with the test drive.

We have an 07' Crownline 270 BR and it is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!! This is the fourth boat that I have owned and it is by far the best. We have had it for 3 1/2 seasons now and have logged approximately 275 hours. The boat has had little to no problems. The only problem that I now have is that there is NOT an on the water dealer on the big lake, hopefully when I am ready to change that situation will have changed. Good Luck!!!!!!

The Crownie is a good solid boat. I'd opt for the big block on that monster as well, very heavy boat.

If it's not new, I'd get a very good survey. Warranty is not as it was when it was the previous Crownline company. I have no idea what the new ones are like since they reopened under new ownership sometime in late 2009?

The 270BR is the quintessential Winnipesaukee boat.

Big enough for the rough stuff and the family, yet small enough to fit into the little coves and sand bars. Any bigger, in my opinion, and you belong in salt water.
