replacing shed

Thinking of replacing my 12 x 10 shed, anyone have any experiance with vendors of pre fab, Reeds Ferry seams to pop up in a lot of ads.

I had a Reeds Ferry shed installed last year at the lake. I was very happy with the whole process from purchase to setup. Very well built and I like that they are flexible with the design.

We went with extra high walls on a Gambral style which I'm glad we did.

Can't say enough good about Reeds Ferry! Here's a pic of the one we had made and installed by them a couple years ago. We had custom siding and roofing installed to match our main home as well as a few other change requests. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. Their installation crew was professional and very quick.

They are made to order in Amish country. You pick size. design, color, trim, door location(s) and then select from several options.

We were very happy with the service and the quality of the shed.

We looked at my father's Reed's Ferry shed (which was leaking) when we decided to have one built. I think this is a situation that depends on use--we wanted strong floors and TIG plywood/a higher roof pitch, etc. and adding those things brought the price up to what my carpenter could built it for. If you're using it for rakes and a push mower, I think RF are fine, but if for heavier machinery--I have a tractor, hydraulic log splitter, etc.--I might look elsewhere.

One other thing: pay attention to roof design--snow loads and storage are two aspects I've found are essential to consider.

If you travel the Everett Turnpike...

From the north, get off at Bedford Tolls and go south on rt3/DW Hwy about 5 miles.

From the south, get off at exit 11 and go north on rt3/DW Hwy about 2 miles.

Exit 12 is only usable for turnpike traffic heading north, or local traffic entering to go south. It is a little less time in local traffic if you are coming from the south that day. If you use that ramp, take rt3/DW Hwy south for about a mile or so.

Reeds Ferry Lumber is in Merrimack on the west side of rt3/DW Highway.

That's the wrong one! Reeds Ferry sheds are located on route 102 in Hudson, NH

I would highly recommend a visit and watch the sheds being made right there. You can pretty much build them however you want, just tell them....

I bought a RF shed in 1990. They were at their former location on Rt 111 in Hudson and the choices were minimal. It held up and is still in good shape although I no longer own that house. The latest shed came from the new facility on Rt 102 in Hudson/Londonderry. The available bells and whistles are now very selectable as are the roof styles, siding style etc. I've been happy with them both times.

Dan is correct, I pass Reeds Ferry every day going to work, they recently took over the car lot across the street as well. all appearances are that they continue to grow. Many sheds onsite to look at, all types of styles.

I had Post Woodworking from Danville, NH do a shed for me on Rattlesnake Island and I would highly recommend them. Go to their website and you can customize your shed and get a price for it. Since seeing mine, two friends have bought sheds from Post and are also very happy.

"Reeds Ferry" is a Merrimack geographic location. I didn't know the company had other locations. It sounds like the one in Hudson must be more significant than the one in Merrimack but I can assure you, they do have a store here and examples of their sheds. Anyone from the lakes area that is traveling this far to do business with them might as well go the extra distance to Hudson but if you are heading somewhere else, Merrimack is more convenient for a look-see.

Those are Post Woodworking Sheds, a Reed's Ferry competitor. If I recall from when we were looking, they were a little better built for a bit more money.

The one in Merrimack is "Reeds Ferry Lumber". They sell pre made sheds from Post Woodworking.com. This is a completely different company than Reeds Ferry Sheds in Hudson who makes their sheds to spec on site in Hudson using local labor force.

Kinda strange that they both use the Reeds Ferry name but definitely two seperate company's that sell different products.

Reeds Ferry Lumber is a highly competitive supplier of building materials, based in Merrimack (Village of Reeds Ferry) so you see their trucks all over the region. I imagine you also see Reeds Ferry Sheds trucks all around too. I believe Reeds Ferry Sheds started in Reeds Ferry many years ago and then moved to Hudson as the business grew. Unrelated businesses, but both very competent, it would appear.

For the sheds that Eased Edges sells, there is a link to the web site in post #4. Pick a style and size for a cost estimated of a delivered shed. A basic 8x12 A-frame shed is $2,952 delivered and leveled.

A lot of them you can price out right on the website. It depends how many things you want on it, what you want it sided with etc. Check out some of the sites mentioned in this thread and you should get a basic ballpark price.

If price is a concern, I would look at some of the big box stores. The pricing seems much lower and on my latest visit to HD, the price included delivery and installation.

Home Depot used to use (may still use) Sheds USA. I was researching a shed earlier this year and was put off by some pretty bad reviews of the company (based in Portsmouth).

I was going to go with Reeds Ferry, but I ended up having one custom built. I went with a 12x24 (more like a garage) and it cost me about $11k.
